    Speed bag vs Heavy bag.

I go with the speed bag every time.

Ottke and DM fought in front of big crowds, and the events were successful in that respect. But they weren't watched by a worldwide audience. Nobody in the States had seen either of them fight. The K Bros have recently put Germany on the map, because they've now got leverage because they're the champs. They've now got power, and can dictate where they want to fight.

But who was going to finance the event in 2001? No major fights were held in Germany back then. The U.S. PPV would have financed everything.

I've seen that video a hundred times. Larry says he's now ready to come to the U.S. but shortly afterwards he backed out. He then had further negotiations over the following 2 years, but he couldn't agree terms. What's the point in posting the video up, when you know that he didn't go?

DM was content defending his title in Germany. I'm sure that if he'd have felt that he could really have beaten Roy, then he'd have gone over. But it was a big risk for him to take, and he was getting well paid in Germany. Him having the WBO belt and Roy having the others, constantly kept his name in the spotlight. He became famous for having the one belt that Roy didn't have. It gave him recognition. If he'd have lost to Roy, what would he have done then? He'd have lost his good pay days, and he would have been forgotten about pretty quickly. I think he weighed everything up, and then played it safe.

Everyone keeps bringing up how he was stripped of his titles. But if that injustice he suffered didn't motivate him to fight Roy for his old titles, then nothing was going to. You would have thought that he'd have been dying to get Roy in the ring, because of what had happened? But that wasn't the case.

Back to the thread, I've got to admit that I haven't seen a lot of DM. But from what I have seen, I think Roy would have won a competetive fight on points.

    Regards, Loudon.

Jones didn't even want Montell after the second robbery against Toonet, he wanted the WBA/IBF Champ who lost by wide margins to Dariusz and Teddy Atlas acknowledging it. I don't know but it looks like Jones was not willing to...

Well according to the poll, the large majority of posters believe Roy would have beat DM... That has to tell us something..

Who didn't want to fight who, no one really knows... but Jones is and was much more proven as a great fighter than DM...

Nah... Michzyzyxxyyxyz would be easy work Jones (which is why I cannot understand why he just didn`t fight the guy & beat him) but Calzaghe is a different class of fighter to Michzzyyzyxxzy, he always gives Jones a tough fight, he gives anyone from 168 downwards a tough fight, Joe was a great fighter.

here's the money punch (no pun..)
people need to stop crediting good boxers who spend their careers protecting a paper belt and building $$ and a padded record by comparing them to the best of an era in a fantasy fight.

its only a said fantasy fight because one of them refused to fight the other.
fighting in the comfort of europe on his own terms was too cozy

I can't believe Darius is only losing 6 to 1.
