I watched Vitali vs Byrd 4 times this week during my summer session lectures. I discovered that this fight was actually a HUGE under rated win for Byrd.

Nowadays people kept saying, oh wah wah wah Vitali quit cause he got a injured shoulder or his hand hurt :patsch:patsch.

Chris Byrd was clowning Vitali stating from Round 5. From Round 5 on, Byrd took Vitali to school. Vitali was hitting air, the few times he did land, Byrd just smiled and walk through his punches.

Vitali said he was 'injured' but he used his left and right hands perfectly up until the end of the fight:think.

When Larry asked Vitali if he think he was up on the cards,
    Vitali replied 'I'm not sure'.

Then he started ducking Larry's Questions much like the way he's ducking Haye now. He also pretended he doesn't know English.

Chris Byrd deserved more credit for that win. He made Vitali quit , because Vitali knew he was on the verge of getting embarrassed in the championship rounds.

Hurt Shoulder my ass, I don't believe it.

Larry Merchant quote during the fight

'I can't believe it, this is the rare case of David vs Goliath where Goliath is the one backing off

'You hurt your hand? So what'

'Perhaps he needed a A PHD IN THE SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS'

Byrd made Vitali punch his own shoulder out .
But then if Vitali had more fighting spirit than he had , he would have fought on and won a decision .
So it was a hard choice between some credit and a lot of credit .
I don't give him full credit 4 it , but close 2 full , which is still more than i usually give 2 any1 .

Chris Byrd deserves credit for this win! Byrd has not a hard punch and he fought a perfect fight against Vitali and Byrd won the fight.

Byrd was walking Vitali down & outlanding him, Vitali didnt like it & quit.

Some K2 fans insist it was a one sided fight that Vitali was dominating :-(

Byrd certainly deserves credit. Listening to some, you'd think Vitali dominated every second of the fight before falling to injury. Byrd boxed very well though and was coming on strong in the second half of the fight.

Vitali had a bad injury but, looking at the fight as a whole, it would be hugely unfair to just dismiss what Byrd did in there.

Vitali was ahead on all the cards but if he'd kept going it would have been a pyrrhic victory given his career might have ended.

Byrd also took the fight on 2 weeks notice..

First they said it was Vitali's hand..then it was his shoulder...

    Truth is...

He was getting rocked and QUIT on his stool...

Ali didn't let a broken jaw stop him and he was dealing with a lot more than Chris Byrd..

Greats find a way to win...

Vitali was "ahead' but was also losing ground fast and getting wobbled...

He must have injured his shoulder in his corner because he was throwing with both hands all throughout the fight..

Even if he was hurt...why QUIT??

The Great Klitchko couldn't beat Byrd with one arm??.....C'mon now...
