I don't mean record or status, just which boxer at his best was the most skilled (athletic/speed/power). The 1 is obvious, because in his prime no one was more athletic or faster than him. 1. Roy Jones Jr. 2. Sugar Ray Leonard 3. Sugar Ray Robinson 4. Manny Pacquiao 5. Sugar Shane Mosley 6. Thomas Hearns 7. Muhammad Ali 8. Meldrick Taylor 9. Zab Judah 10. Floyd Mayweather Jr.
1. Humberto Soto 2. Humberto Soto 3. Humberto Soto 4. Humberto Soto 5. Humberto Soto 6. Humberto Soto 7. Humberto Soto 8. Humberto Soto 9. Humberto Soto 10. Humberto Soto
Robinson Leonard Sweat Pea Mayweather Arguello Ali Jones Hearns James Toney Joe Louis (Very difficult list to make. Open to critisism and ridicule but show your own list first.)
Jones' style has a lot of holes in it that were covered up for most of his career by his athleticism, he doesn't deserve to be there. Neither does Pacquiao, Meldrick had fast hands but he was there to be hit too often as he was a bit open defensively. I shouldn't need to explain why Zab shouldn't be there, he isn't top 10 most skillful in the last 15 years nevermind all time.
as far as im concerned skilled does not include athleticism, speed or power. These are physical attributes. Manny pac wouldnt be in my top 100 for skill
its a loaded question but here are mine last 20/30 years in no order 1. ODLH 2. Floyd Mayweather 3. JCC 4. SRL 5. Finito Lopez 6. Marquez 7. Whitaker 8. Juan Manuel Marquez 9. Pacquiao (not so much as skilled but more explosive) 10. Erik Morales
1. Robinson 2. leonard 3. Jones Jr 4. Whitaker 5. Ali 6. Pep 7. Mayweather 8. Toney 9. Gans 10. Hearns
I've never agreed with the presumtion that fighter A, who fights behind his jab while moving around the ring is more skilled than fighter B, who works his way inside, roughs his opponent up and destroys him with body-shots. Just because someone is superior athletically doesn't mean they're more skilled. I don't agree with any definition that can see someone, presumably with a straight face, ranking Zab Judah over Roberto Duran. Therefor, my list would be exactly the same as my "normal" top 10 all-time list; 1. Ray Robinson 2. Sam Langford 3. Harry Greb 4. Henry Armstrong 5. Ezzard Charles 6. Roberto Duran 7. Willie Pep 8. Muhammad Ali 9. Benny Leonard 10. Mickie Walker Please don't try and tell me Shane Mosley or Zab ****ing Judah were any more skillful than these guys, no matter what loose definition you apply to the word.
Based on Talent 1. Roy Jones 2. Ray Robinson 3. Ray Leonard 4. Charley Burley 5. Pernell Whitaker 6. Benny Leonard 7. Floyd Mayweather Jr 8. Joe Louis 9. Willie Pep 10. Thomas Hearns Pure Skill 1. Charley Burley 2. Ray Robinson 3. Ray Leonard 4. Pernell Whitaker 5. Joe Louis 6. Benny Leonard 7. Floyd Mayweather Jr 8. Bernard Hopkins 9. Roberto Duran 10. Willie Pep
