Are they underestimating Hooper? It's going to be a good fight, interesting that they say Hooper is a 'pitty pat puncher'. :think

so brownes trainer labels hooper "a pitty-pat puncher with no power,".....

in case he isnt aware, its a very effective style in the ams. as for no power...if browne comes forward trying to hit hard, he will be moving forward harder, therefore making hoopers punches more effective and more powerful. browne will be walking onto punches.

a very interesting matchup. pucher vs boxer. in the ams youd favour the boxer. but as the puncher (browne) has the reach and height advantage, hooper is in for a contest. head movement and counterpunching will be hoopers best win strategy.

That's incorrect, since 2009 you need to land clean power punches to get points. I don't think Hooper is a pitty pat puncher at all, he sometimes doesn't turn his punches over in order to surprise and maintain speed but he snaps his opponents heads back when he lands.

there's been a few articles going around about Hooper dropping and hurting pro's while sparring so i wouldnt think he doesn't carry any power.

I also recall reading somewheere on the forum that one of the posters here had seem him spar and Damien was just moving around then out of no where exploded and put the pro he was sparring on the canvas.

I'd say its safe to assume Damien has enough pop in his hands to hold his own with any of his division.

Jackson Woods is on at 10:30pm and Damien Hooper is on at 12:45am EST time...

wouldnt have a clue what time they will be shown on tv though.

the full list of Aussie bouts with dates n times is on page 3 of the "Aus Olympic Boxing Schedules/Results " thread.

well mate both fights are on live at the time i mention above.
whether or not they wil be shown live is another question.
I sat up ages last night waiting for them to show the boxing but had to call it quits before they did...

i think its safe to say if it is being shown it will be on delay.
flick on channel 9 just before the 11pm shift chage n the new host comes on. maybe he will mention if they are planning on showing it and might give a time frame

Disappointing result for Jackson Woods. Solid 1st round but was not great in the 2nd or 3rd

Very disapointing the win was there for him ,, but he got sloppy and his feet everywhere , i agreed with the commentators , he got very messy , fell over 3 times very unbalanced for someone at that level

Yeah it became very messy indeed. If he had a bit more composure and stayed to the gameplan he wound have won!

Hooper wins 13-11, he was trailing by one point going into the last round. Hooper really turned it on in the last causing a standing 8 count and just got over the line... he's got the Russian up next, going to be a tough fight.

yep he rocked the yank in the last round for sure, but it was a bit worrying how undisciplined he was and really tentative, hopefully it was just first fight jitters, some of the punches he was throwing and landing with were pretty outrageous.
