Roy Jones was never a drugs cheat. The substance he tested positive was only banned by the IBF. The substance was called Androstenedione, which was a legal supplement you buy on the counter at GNC, vitamin shops up etc until 2004. Roy took a supplement called Ripped Fuel, which you can buy at GNC which contained Androstenedione in 2000 before his fight which Richard Hall and tested positive because the IBF, considered it a banned substance, Roy didn't know this, apologized and never tested positive again. So to conclude the substance Roy took was legal to take at the time however because the IBF banned it, he tested positive. Roy apologized because he didn't know it was banned by the IBF, never took it again and never tested positive again. He never intended to cheat. it was a light offence and that's why the IBF never stripped him off his titles and didn't fine him.
This is what people say, but to my knowledge the exact substance has never been officially revealed by the testing organization. I doubt we'll ever know the truth.
:roflatsch yeah he also never beat a Unified, Undisputed, or Lineal champion in his whole career and he was also never THE Champion in any weight class he fought in. and he has nobody to blame but himself because he was afraid to make the big fights.
Except Collins and DM (confirmed ducks), and mysteriously never boxing Jackson, McClellan, Benn, Liles, Eubank, Nunn, etc during his prime
'confirmed ducks' haha... if you want to fight the man you go fight PPV in the states and earn a fight with the man
Do you understand that the world does not revolve around you and your do whatever it takes, ruin as many peoples lives, so long as you can make a name for yourself as an investigatory journalist, no matter how many friends you lose or people you leave dead and bloodied along the way, just so long so you can make a name for yourself as an investigatory journalist, no matter how many friends you lose or people you leave dead and bloodied and dying along the way?
Are you ******ed? Jones wasn't ever "the man". Collins offered Jones a unification fight for good money, which was easily a ppv fight. Genuine offers which Jones turned down. If you can't understand that is a confirmed duck, you shouldn't post on the subject. Jones' ducking of DM isn't even up for debate.
If you believe that you'll believe anything. Some of the facts around this case are well documented (especially the ripped fuel excuse) & some have been covered up. Anyone with an objective perspective knows the truth of the matter, Roy used PEDs.
Bull**** Collins - Got offered 3 million from HBO to fight Roy and turned it down Benn - Also got offered 3 million from HBO to fight Roy but turned down it becuase he would have pay alot to get free from Don King because King had exclusive right to showtime. Benn admitted that Roy was a different class and was happy to be number 2 to Roy. DM - Roy never ducked him, It didn't happen becuase neither fighter wanted to go into each other countries. Roy was the best and wanted in USA, because he didn't trust the judging in Germany and DM didn't want to fight in the USA Eubank - Admitted the fight didn't happen because he didn't believe he could beat Roy Liles - The fact couldn't happen because Don King had exclusive right to Liles and from 1991 through to 1998 King wasn't involved in a single HBO telecast and had exclusive rights over Showtime Championship Boxing Nunn - Roy never ducked him. Roy moved up to fight Toney Mcclellan - Would have happened if Mcclellan had beaten Benn, but Mcclellan lost and sustained career ending injuries.
