But you got to remember what Hopkins has done since that defeat. It's not like he's slown down or anything.
hes lost two and won two. its a fair record, but fighting even a very skilled fortysomething is not difficult for a fairly good near prime boxer with excellent fitness, a has been shown by Dawson and others. All you need to do is keep your distance and push his lungs as hard as possible till he gasses, then easily win the rounds he is gassed in.
what absolute bull****, there were many boxing experts tipping roy jones to beat calzaghe :deal Its clear that once jones had stopped juicing and gone back down to 175, roys reflexes had diminished a little, exposing roys disgraceful glass jaw. tarver and jones took This content is protected of that by knocking him cold. the difference with calzaghe and the reason that so many respected people in the fight game were tipping jones to beat calzaghe was because they knew that calzaghe's hands were totally shot and that he didn't have any knock out power left at all. they all knew that calzaghe v jones was a match up that would be decided by This content is protected ability alone. by the time the calzaghe fight came around, jones had 3 good wins under his belt and fully adapted back to the weight, was fighting on home territory, with american officials, at a weight calzaghe had only fought at once before. the omens looked great for roy, the only problem was that roy was fighting an elite fighter and was no longer juicing - the gulf in class was huge. after roys illegal forearm in the 1st round, calzaghe came roaring back and 'lacyied jones in his own back yard. the beatdown was the 1st sustained beatdown of roys career, i think any neutral observer would agree that even a glass handed calzaghe could have stopped jones if he had chosen too, but out of respect for roy, and combined with the fact that calzaghe knew it would be his last fight, calzaghe spared jones and decided to enjoy himself through This content is protected 8-12 and put on a master class of skills and charisma for the paying public. when all is done, people remember calzghe for his This content is protected to fight in adveristy, to be able to adapt styles mid-fight, to be able to go toe to toe without holding despite notorious hand problems. when all is done, people will remember roy jones for being a drug cheat, for folding like a lawn chair when faced with adversity, for having no plan B and not being able to adapt when plan A didn't work, for having an horrific glass jaw, for never beating a linear champion his whole career.
lets be honest here berol, calzaghe beat hopkins in the middle of the best winning streak of his entire career - winky, tarver, pavlik, jones, pascal :deal you need to quit crying on esb everyday like a pathetic little ***** :crybaby your entire posting history is dedicated to stalking joe calzaghe :roflatsch just relax and accept the fact that calzaghe travelled to america, fought at a new weight for the 1st time, and despite a corrupt refereeing performance and 3 american judges, calzaghe still beat bernard hopkins whilst b-hop was ranked the number 3 p4p fighter on the planet :hi:
These thick ****s are now comparing Hopkins-Calzaghe to Ali-Holmes, Marciano-Louis, Norris-Leonard, & Tszyu-Chavez??? :rofl:rofl:roflatsch
its clear to see who did the hiding bulletpuff :deal bernard got offered a career high payday to fight hopkins in america :yep This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected the girly slapping styles is a funny one, baring in mind that calzaghes hands were shot to **** . . . . . . - do you ever remember calzaghe turning down an invitation to go toe to toe with anyone? :huh - do you ever remember calzaghe holding on against opponents? :huh - do you ever remember calzaghe throwing himself out of the ring like a ****ing ***** and deliberately getting a fight halted? :rofl - do you ever remember calzaghe feigning injury during fights like a ****ing crybaby? :crybaby - do you ever remember calzaghe fighting and not being good enough to emerge the winner against fighters the calibre of clinyon mitchell, mercado, robert allen, jermain taylor :rofl you need to understand that starting an alter-ego account to purely slate joe calzaghe will get you nowhere in life, no matter what you say, it will not change the facts, your pathetic crying will never change history that has already been set in stone :deal
delusional fanboys at there very worst joe boxer berolgee and bullettpuff have spent their entire posting careers hating on joe calzaghe threads :rofl
if you think twenty defences of the MW title are a less worthy string of defences than the three WINS in his forties you mentioned, then yes. But to all sane people, 20 defences of the MW title has more meaning than three fights in his forties. cheers for your failed point, mind you. always good to hear experimental views.
yeah fortysomething. count the years. 40something. haha. I'm not even a pro boxer and i'd never step ni the ring with a fortysomething, I'd be too embarrassed.
calzaghe was 36 and jones was 39 :deal you need to quit crying like a ***** every single day about it :crybaby . . . . . . maybe even post on an esb thread that doesn't involve joe calzaghe :rofl
I would but its not easy to reply without mentioning Joe Calzaghe wehn ALL your replies are about Joe Calzaghe. Perhaps we could invent a code word for his name so that you dont get annoyed when I am replying to you? We'll call him Joker Saggey? Here we go - Jones was shot2****, Joker Saggy was postprime. There we go, I get to reply to your Joe Calzaghe posts and you dont get to complain that I am posting about Joe - we are all happy now. dont say I dont try my best to accomodate your odd requests.
you've already been comprehensively trounced in this thread, so maybe you could find a thread that doesn't involve a man who butt ****ed your idol, relax a little, stop being a hater, and enjoy yourself on esb, learning about the sport of boxing, rather than sitting with all that pent up tension and hate that consumes your feeble 107lb frame :rofl nothings gonna change the fact that there were 8 times hopkins got into the ring and wasn't good enough to beat his opponent nothings gonna change the fact that bernard feigned injury like a complete ***** v robert allen and chad dawson and did not give a flying **** about ripping off his loyal fans who paid hard earned money to watch him fight nothings gonna change the fact that for the majority of hopkins best wins he dragged his opponents way above they're best weight to fight them nothings gonna change the fact that hopkins never beat an elite opponent at a fair weight in his entire career nothings gonna change the fact that your racist idol got bent over and butt****ed in the middle of the ring by a white boy, live in deliciously crystal clear HD before a global audience of millions just let it go, you cannot change history with your pissy, hate filled rants :rofl
why is that when I am agreeing with the thread title. Clearly you have personal issues. course he did. You will if you fight when you are in your forties. You might need to get over tha fact that ageing makes us weaker. Not too bothered what you say about Bernard Hopkins, I am not even a fan of the man, so please carry on with your retribe if it makes you feel better. In contrast, its clear from your backlash you must be a superfan of Joe. So I can understand why you write what you write. But try not to label others with your own zeal, theres a good man.
People either over-rate or under-rate joe... He was a great fighter, the 168 GOAT to this day... But in terms of how will he be remebered, because he went up to 175. He will always be compared to other fighters at that weight, prime for prime, jones and hopkins will always be favoured over him. For the record... joe beats current version of ward... Although I dont like to answer these questions untill both have retired.
Calzaghe much too much for him. Calzaghe would have an answer for everything hes got. Hes about the same height, i could see Joe dominating him quite bad
