Oscar broke bones at 140 and below and his jab would mess up Pryor big time. Peyor is so overrated thanks to being a cheat
Napoles, Chavez, Tzsyu, Benitez, Chavez and if you wanna talk guys who didn't fight at the weight but could have (they skipped or didn't spend much time, if any there): Ike Williams Duran Whitaker McLarnin Canzoneri Ross Armstrong
This is how I see it. Oscar would not want to trade leather. He would run, and try to win by landing more shots that do very little damage.
Firstly @140 I think Pryor beats Chavez. Pryor was very similar to Taylor only stronger and tougher. And secondly I doubt Chavez would have beaten Arguello twice in the way Pryor did. The Hawk = Greatest 140lber ever
Tzyu beating pryor? You got to be joking. Neither Tzyu or Oscar would beat The Hawk. A more even fight would be Tzyu against Oscar.
I find that very hard to believe, outside of Trinidad this was the biggest fight of his career... Mosely beat him fair & square. For the record, I thought DLH was robbed in the 2nd Mosely fight, poor decision.
Whether Chavez would beat Arguello is irrelevant, styles make fights... Chavez would make Pryor fight inside & land the more accurate punches throughout, he would be slipping Pryor`s wide shots & letting his own accuracy build the points (& do the damage) Ps. Pryor fights nothing like Taylor & Chavez beat Taylor beyond repair regardless.
Dude I really hope you are aware that De La Hoya was a natural Super-Featherweight? When Oscar was his best at LWW he was not drained at all. Also I don't rate pryor as the no.1 LWW by any means, let alone H2H. Whitaker and Chavez would tap that ass
I'm not saying Tszyu would beat Pryor, or any of the guys I mentioned, but they would be considered capable. And if you don't think Tszyu could crack enough to drop Pryor, you should re-visit some of his fights.
I agree, Tszyu has an ok chance, but Pyror would be the favourite. Gavillan would also push Pryor to the limit, having flirted between lightweight and welterweight early in his career. Obviously the light welterweight division being recognised as a legitimate division by very few at the time, he never fought there, but he certainly could have made 140.
I only listed those fighters as a response to the statement that Pryor was far and away better than anyone else ever at the weight, and that's bull****. There are several fighters that I (and others) would favor over Pryor, Tszyu isn't one, but he would have a crack. Pryor is overrated around these parts, I get it, but he ain't the Gomez of 140lbs...
