Yes. And i'm positive the same would have happened to Marciano.

Because it's over-simplistic. You can believe Frazier had better defense but their defense was different to the point of each men being superior and worse toward differing punch types. To say one guy has the better defense without breaking it down is to state nothing really.

    Well said.

What's your reaction to his spell against Bonavena in their first bout? As Frazier put it, "No flash knockdown."

I ask this because Bonavena was basically a cruder, more inferior version of Marciano trained by the same trainer as Rocco in Charlie Goldman.

Bonavena just caught him good. Frazier was quite green still at that point in his career.

Sure, it's possible that Frazier could also lose to Marciano.

Then what does that have to do with a Marciano-Frazier matchup? Joe Frazier is not George Foreman

I never said frazier's was superior. I said I didn't agree that rocky's was superior.

I'm just question what the other post said about Marciano having better punch resistance.

Well he did. He was never floored 2x in one fight by Oscar Bonavena nor was he ever knocked down by a bum like Michael Bruce.

However, I doubt it that Rocky would survive the way Joe survived against Clay in Manilla fighting blind for the last few rounds.

No. So you were just being adamant for the sake of being adamant then?

Rocky was practically blind against Walcott during the middle rounds.

Marciano survived against a harder puncher in Walcott being blind for 3 rounds

OK but one big difference here is that Joe Frazier was fighting Oscar Bonevena in his 12th pro fight. He was already facing a top 10 heavyweight at that early stage. Thats like using the Sonny Banks KD of Ali as a testement to his durability.

We know that Rocky was still in Providence fighting club fighters at that time. Marciano didnt step up in competition until a much later period in his career.
