"If these robberies don't stop, riots will break out"... Listen... I know Joshua has no power over the judges, but the fact remains that he lost that fight. Savon was completely robbed, this is the Olympic Games. It should reward the best athlete's not rob them. Savon has just been robbed of 4 years of effort and dedication....
They may well protest but it will be against the home country boxer so i do not think it will do them any good. I understand what you are saying, the hype surrounding him has been rather large but that is not Joshua's fault that people get carried away. I think people have to remember he has only been boxing 4 years and is boxing men with so much more experience than himself, combine that with the pressure and expectation and he is doing very well for a "baby". But I sort of agree with you, from what we saw tonight he will have to step it up big time to get his hands on a gold medal.
An effective combination should have a button press worth 3 points, providing the punches landed cleanly. All judges will be asked to make sure they're certain that those punches landed on the head/body and not the judges. This could solve some of the issues that are facing Olympic judging. This system is flawed but in-effect a little better than the one before it, where often bouts ended 34-27 or something silly, and many punches weren't even landed cleanly, yet scored. I'll say congratulations to Joshua, even though I am annoyed that the wrong man won the bout. I hope he goes on to win his next contest and get a gold/silver/bronze by winning fights fair and square. I'd be bitterly disappointed if he wins another decision in this fashion again, his performance wasn't great, he seems to be fairly sluggish but for a young man he's only going to get better, afterall didn't a certain Audley set the world alight in the Olympics.. the less said on him the better! I think he can beat the heavy-handed chinese guy in his next bout Xang or whatever his name is. He sets his feet well and has good power especially in the right hand, but can easily be outboxed on the outside.
I hate it when people say... "Oh he has only been boxing for 4 years".... He's slow, do you think in 4 years time he is magically going to be has fast as David Haye..? And have his co-ordination..? 4 years is along time, yes he can gain more experience! but for me the kid its just not that talented. He's just a big guy who has decided to box. I hope he gets stopped, and beaten badly.
Come on PK from not boxing at all to winning the ABA senior title in 18 bouts then a silver medal at the world amateurs and now boxing at the Olympics against the worlds best amateurs in 4 years is a great achievement. No i do not think he will become as fast as a David Haye but not many HW's are. The hype around him needs to calm down and he needs to learn his trade. look he might improve drastically, he may go backwards or he could just level out, nobody knows but i have a feeling he will do ok. "I hope he gets stopped, and beaten badly" :rofl:rofl:rofl That decision was bad but that must have really upset you.
I am very rarely impressed by a fighter, when i am impressed..? Believe me, these guys that impress me will go on to do great things. I was impressed by Savon, and i am a very tough critic to impress. I feel like Savon was robbed, and from what i have seen so far he could of been the potential Gold Medallist. The only other British boxer who i have tipped to become a professional star is Anthony Ogogo. Joshua is just a big guy who has decided to box. "Without his size he would be a complete no mark"...
Haha true PK, i have never seen you lavish praise on any boxer. but agreed, Savon was excellent, he did nothing wrong, i feel for him. Savon was screwed. I'm not saying Joshua will be a star but what he has done in his short career is impressive in my opinion. i'm reserving judgement on Ogogo
I'd agree with a few things you say but boxers do improve with age and time. It's also a bit of a trolling comment to say "I hope he gets stopped, and beaten badly." Are you english? are you supporting Team GB? :huh I'll be supporting Joshua, but not bad boxing officiating.
1) Medzhidov has only been boxing for 4 or 5 years too yet no one is using it as a excuse when discussing him
Yes i am English, but people with Higher intellects don't just support somebody because they are Team GB or English. That's a form of discrimination, and its really a small minded way to think. I don't know half of these GB fighters, i have not grown to ether dislike them or like them....so i cannot just blindly support them. The only other fighter i have seen before is Anthony Ogogo, seen afew interviews his personality seems ok, and he is a decent fighter. But i will support any fighter who has legitimately won their first superheavyweight bout. And i hope they beat Joshua.
