Where have they stated that headgear would be not required from next year?

Me. Not favourite, but clearly a prospect for gold given that he made the World Championships final, beating the Olympic Champion in the semi finals and losing the final by one point in a fight I felt he edged.

That was a year ago, after being a boxer for only 3 years. So yes, it would stand to reason that 12 months of training and learning down the line, he would be better and having beaten the reigning Olympic Champ and being within one score of being the current World Champ, he was a very real prospect for gold.

I haven't seen the fight yet, but every single British poster has said that Savon won and won clearly. Some have said it was a total robbery and others have said that Savon won but it was not as bad as others have made out.

I was not sold on the Joshua hype, as even though I felt he won the final in the worlds, I was not massively impressed by anything he did, but did feel that he had clear attributes and some natural ability that could be fashioned into something very promising. They still probably can. One bad bout does not end that, but it is disappointing to hear that he has not really improved his footwork and is still a bit 1-2, 1-2 orientated.

Just watched it and thought that too, I think it's more that the Cuban made him look slower than usual.

I thought Savon won it but it wasn't an outright robbery, though considering the Olympics are being held in his hometown certainly doesn't help the matter. Regardless of what happened, he is still alive and still has a very real shot at gold, which is very impressive for a 22 y.o. that just started boxing four years ago. He's certainly talented.

¿ How can he be a pro when he doesn't fight like one ? , ! for ****s sake he's only been boxing for 4 ****ing years ! . He lost badly and in front of the whole world he got a gift decision , at least Audley Harrison won his medal fair and square . Lol , he won't amount to anything , they just destroyed this kid's credibility .Only fanboys like yourself will follow his " Pro " career after he "won" the Olympics . Shame on Britain . Peace & love .:-:)-:)-(
