The league started poorly and was considered below standard ,, but it grew stronger and stronger , with a lot of the league lads going on to become Aussie pro champs . But then Mick Canavan died and with him also the league , it fell apart after Mick and never recovered .
My club switched from the league to the association last year and it was the best move for the club. Although it means a round trip of 3000km to get a fight, we have now had boys who have qualified to represent Australia and prove themselves against better competition. The league is dying and the sooner they get back with the association the better it will be for boxers from the bush.
holy ****. no trouble getting a fight there. no gloves though... SEQLD is probably one of the best places in qld to fight ams, as its close to strong NSW clubs on the north coast.
the league used to be bloody strong in north queensland, somethin must of happened, good luck with the move to the association colman, your gunna need it, if ur not in with the mob that are runnin it,u can foget ur boys gettin anywhere
You are funny!! Cameron Hammond is a great am boxer lives in the country and fights in the ABA. Also maybe you havent seen the ABA fights of late but i dont see much of the pity pat punches that you are talking bout. The 90% of our best pro fighters are from the ABA. Any way thanks for the laughs
homer, when the computer system was introduced in aus,and for a quite awhile afterwards no body shots were counted, where the league and global did, the boxers were taught to fight to the computer system, which is a lot diff to the pro's ,i do see however these games the judging has improved(thank god), still couple of rough decisions but a lot better than last olympics, the country boys always suffer a bit when it comes to traveling no matter wat sport, good luck to cameron he looked good in that first bout
IMHO the whole points scoring system is no good. I much prefer pro style 10 points must. There is so so much more to boxing than taging with clean shots.
Yeh Blue the computer scoring system used at previous oylmpic games was poor for boxing as it was more like fencing than boxing. But i do think the changes to the system have improved the sport for all. As for rough decisions mate its boxing ABA ABL pro what ever there are always going to be bad decisions. But i think 100% the ABA is the stronger competion & produces the beter pro,s
we will agree to disagree homer, lol, dunno who produces the better pro's, the scoring systems of league and global are closer to the pro's ,global uses the ten point card, just watched the number one in cameron's division get beatin by the pom( luckily i thought) he's gunna have to be at his best
