Holy **** there are some over the top reactions on this site regarding his "win" against Savon.

Lets get a few things clear. Having rewatched the fight the first round is very close, a point either way is cool.

Round 2, Savon lands in combination but simply no more times than Joshua lands in singles, anyone who knows anything about computer scoring knows that even if you land 3 shots in a beautiful flowing combo you get a point because its simply impossible to press your button 3 times a second like the shots land. Flawed yes, cheating no.

Round 3, Savon simply did **** all for 2 and a half minutes even though he knew he was down on the cards, when he did go, he landed in combination again meaning 1 point per flurry, every time Anthony landed a single right hand he equals the Cubans scoring rate.

So, for me, this is not a "hometown decision" a "robbery" or "corruption" its simply a fundamentally flawed scoring system that should have been fazed out ages ago.

  2. Stopped being all sensible and level-headed about it.

It was a robbery and a he was schooled and all that.

Brits like to overreact and be overcritical when a British boxer is fighting, the way some people were talking you'd think Joshua didn't land at all.

Just heard that in the first round 3 of the 5 judges scored the round for Savon. You would think therefore it would be Savon round.
However they take all the judges scores and take the average of the scores to get the score for the round. This men's the judges who scored it for Savon give to him narrowly, whereas the judges who scored for Joshua were wider.
It is possible for a majority of judges to score each round for Savon but lose the overall fight under this system.

Joshua's head was snapped back multiple times...

It was hilarious when the Cuban was just bouncing infront of him then snapping his head back with a Jab.

Im really not enjoying this no show of scoring at this olympics

did used to find knowing the score in advance for both fans and fighters was more exciting than the standard way of announcing a decision

I sure as hell know if i was 3-4pts behind going into the final minute of the last round i would want to know of that fact

Was Amir Khan robbed in the 2004 Olympics..?

Was David Price robbed in the 2008 Olympics..?

Was Robin Reid robbed in the 1992 Olympics..?

Was Richie Woodhall robbed against Roy Jones in 1988..?

    No.

Was Savon robbed against Joshua..? Yes.

I hope Joshua gets well beaten in his next fight.

He's no Olympic Champion, you have to win all you're Olympic Fights to become Olympic Champion.

I'm just thinkiung about him as a prospect. Still think his feet look far too slow. Lewis was in the papers chatting about this guy (I was looking out for him and hyping him up beforehand) but he was saying Joshua would earn more than him and Tyson!

Then I saw him in the ring and his feet are pretty much stuck to the canvas. No leg movement no ringwork. I was sad. You go and watch Tyson move when he was training for the junior Olympics. Its on youtube. Feet so fast throwing punches left and right, the eight secind knockout. All that.

I wasn't expecting that but I was hoping for something close. If this is the big hope for the heavyweight division improving beyond the rule of Wlad. I'm not that impressed guys.

Don't get all high and mighty about it!

Savon was robbed of a victory, simple as that.

We're British, but we want our guys to win fair and square.

mate you simply dont know the true meaning of the term "robbery"

may i suggest you watch a copy of helenius vs chisora
that is what you call criminal

what happened last night was a fighter falling on the right end of a close decision

  14. You have to question Savon's tactics. He must be aware that throwing combinations isn't going to score him high points.

    The Cuban's should of protested.
