That is prefectly ok. It's the individual scores that count. One judge clicked a round 1 blue, 1 red; another clicked a round 10 red, 10 blue; 3 remaining clicked 4-4, 6-6, 5-8. Total score is 5-6, based on three judges with the "most similar score".

(I'm away for a while. I hope it helped)

but the other scores had it 3 of the closest judges.

i hope another amatuer boxing organisation can come up out of it. because this is turning into a joke. part of it is the tail wagging the dog. how dare some of these officials feel the need to wield thier power to stop a competitor of 4 years work due to grey areas like the holding thing last night.

the judges and the refs are there to say who was the winner had the fight had continued to dangerous level of punishment.

    **** em all.

O'Neill fought well even though he didn't win. The German was just to strong for him. Ireland's first loss....

And Vasyl Lomachenko, one of my favorite boxers in the world amateur and pro, looked great as usual. Barely broke a sweat.

Basically Olympic style scoring in boxing is why many Olympic fighters can't fight for **** in the pro ranks, have no ability to throw good body shots and have no power. Look at Andre Ward, a great technician but he can't break an egg. Amateur boxing is not really boxing any more IMO. And a long amateur career doesn't really prepare you, as it used to do, for the pro ranks. The whole thing should be scrapped and it should be pro scoring with headgear and bigger gloves. That's boxing. Not a tickling contest which is what it is now, and which takes no account of the power of a blow, good bodywork, or who is actually controlling his opponent or hurting him. Stupid.

Isn't there five judges? Then high and low score thrown out and the other three counted!

Honestly, i haven't got a ****ing clue about amateur boxing and i wouldn't be confident in scoring a fight. It's rubbish imo. Ridiculous stoppages, odd decisions etc. Can't stand it.

I haven't seen any of the Olympics due to a lack of time (work) but have heard the scoring has been shambolic.

Punches are scored if they land with force and are clean with the scoring part of the glove. Glancing blows and blows landed with parts of the glove which are not considered "the scoring part" of the gloves neither are punches with out "force".

Problem is that this is hugely subjective and done similar to compubox which, as we all know, is totally shite.

This is what I thought, which is why I favored the cleanly scoring knuckle-contact blows of Dominick Breazale against Magomed Omarov in the first two rounds. Lots of jabs and crosses scoring pretty flush.

Pretty much everybody in the PBP thread disagreed with me, as did the judges, but really the overwhelming majority of what Omarov was knocking Breazale around with (and yeah, he was bulldozing him to the ropes and knocking him around pretty frequently, but physicality isn't a scoring criteria) were clubbing shots that landed more with forearm than with knuckle.
