No one is doubting a prime Roy would beat Kessler. What I'm saying is if you go by joes resume as is the topic of this thread, 2007 jones does not beat 2007 Kessler

Calzaghe fought really no one. How many times in his career did he really challenge his self? He could of fought Jones or Hopkins years before they were grand daddy's.

I'm sure that Hagler and SRL said Joe would hold his own. They are both respectful and classy individuals. Whether that is true or not, we'll never know, but I can't Imagine a scenario where Joe beats any of those guys. Maybe Hearns if Joe could catch him, before a right hand ended his night. Leonard too fast, with a good jab, and boxing ability. Hagler too rugged and durable, with a titanium chin and power in both hands.

LOL, gotta love slappy fans who compare him to naturally much lighter greats. why don't they talk about fighters like Spinx, Charles, Moore . . . lol. He would get spanked by top LHW and MIGHT be competitive to smaller ATGs. :D

his best atreribute behind the Olympian stamina was his business sense to cherrypick oponents he would easily beat.

Undefeated doesn't count for much amongst the ATGs. The greatest fighters of all time have all lost at some point.

I thought Calzaghe was decent enough, but his record is weak.

hopkins turned down a showtime deal in 2002 where calzaghe would have been the second in a three fight deal. hopkins chose to go with the hbo deal instead. how is it that hopkins was ducking calzaghe when he actually fought him? there's no logic in this thought. joe was a nothing when he bhop was supposedly ducking him.

Calzaghe got whipped by Robin Reid and Bernard Hopkins.

Andre Ward will retire undefeated, despite fighting vastly superior opposition to Calzaghe throughout his career.

davey boy, this is a pretty weak argument here. i have a hard time believing that the brits hype american fighters more than their own. jones' hype included being at or near the top of everyone's pound for pound list during this time and being named fighter of the decade. joe was nowhere near jones' class in this time and this documentary shows how jones and joe were thought of by the brits.

btw, steve collins was pretty funny in the doc. he reminds me of a lot of jones hates on these boards.

this is a fact and it looks good but just don't do too much digging. believe it or not, joe could actually lose.

    Jones
    Ward
    Hopkins

The only real test on Joe's resume was Kessler, and Ward dominated him.

  14.:lol::rofl:rofl @ pulling out an ancient amateur bout (the outcome of which was controversial).

Calzaghe won 3 successive ABA titles. Deal with it. :smooch
