    It's historically been the HW'S.

Recently it's KBROS in Eastern Europe and Pacquaio Floyd everywhere else.

But which division do you feel should be the FACE OF BOXING.

I honestly think it should be the HW'S or Middleweights.

MW=The perfect combination of speed, power, size, and fluidity.

HW With the right champion=The best possible representation of what boxing is about. Ali,Frazier, etc.

I respect Floyd and Manny's skills, but I just feel the big guys should be the true face of a fighting sport.

Obviously when there is no great big men around. The WW'S can shine. But give me Ali as the face over Pacquaio or Floyd or Sugar Ray/Oscar any day.

There were some casual boxing fans at the Uni gym that honestly asked 'why are all the refs in boxing so damn tall'??

:patsch:patsch . That's never a good thing when the refs look like they can pick up Cotto or Floyd and throw them.

I go so far as to say

MW-WW-LHW-AND SMW is >then HW right now. But, do you honestly feel

the flagship of boxing should be the 'feather weights'?

Welterweight has always been my favorite. Extremely athletic guys who provide plenty of action and can deliver KO's at a fairly consistent clip.

    Middleweight is my #2.

Agreed. I think WW is favorite for many fans. But do you think that should be the division to represent boxing over the Ali-Tyson Division?

Like Say a Boxing Hall of Fame and the 'face of boxing'

will it be Sugar Ray Leonard or Ali?

The Ali-Frazier era is over. Sports evolve over time. Baseball has gone from the Dead Ball era, featuring slap hitters, to the Steroid Era, featuring mashers, back to an age of pitching and succeeded in all three.

Boxing needs to realize that the best, most exciting fights, happen between 135-168, where there is a large talent pool that doesn't get siphoned into other sports. This is the era of the smaller fighter.

well it has the two highest rated and most popular fighters such as Manny and Floyd in it. so yes, it should be the premier division. there is still a sense of competion knowing the two best can still fight eachother. the 2 best in the HW divison wont fight one another.

the premier can switch where ever the buzz goes to next.

Good post. I 100% agree. I think it can definitely shift base on fighters.

Heavyweights haven't been the premier division in a long while. In the last 20 years the number of premier fights featuring the lower weights is much higher than the number of premier heavyweight fights.

The heavies have been an extremely top heavy division for most of the last 30 years, with an exception of the early to mid 90s. One or two stars, or in present case bores, doesn't make a solid division.
