Anyone can tell me something about this guy, i thought no way Iran had a boxer in the olympics, but he did make it to the 1/8-finals right? Where he got robbed anyone got a link to that? PersianPrideWorldWide :hey
Ali Mazheri, DQ'ed for excessive holding. It was a bit sudden, but to be fair both had been warned a bunch of times. It could have as easily been the Cuban who got DQ'ed, the ref had simply had enough of both of them not following his instructions.
Omg a iranian beating a cuban? Holy ****, if only boxing became more popular in Iran and without the f*cking regime, i actually think Iran would have some good heavyweight and lightweight potential if boxing was bigger in Iran :hey
Forget Iran, if boxing became more popular in afghanistan, they would **** all over the mexicans and african american fighters. Every afghan I have met are born warriors
The DQ was pretty premature, felt bad for the Iranian dude though, he looked shattered, he just dropped his gear and left the ring without standing with the cuban to announce the victory, he was doin ok before the DQ.
By any standard it was a horrendous stoppage, the second warning in particular was for nothing whatsoever that I could see. This olympic contest started well but the last few days have been seriously terrible scoring-wise.
Look, I don't agree with the referee's actions there, but putting yourself in the shoes of Mazheri and Larduet: there have been five warnings dished out to the pair of you combined for holding. Maybe...don't hold anymore? :think :conf
The Iranian was winning the fight imo and im pretty sure he was up on points with the actual judges too. I thought the refs warnings were complete bull****. Larduet himself seemed in disbelief at what transpired. Unless they were allowed to plant IED's under the canvas and bring civilians into the ring with them to hide behind i don't think they would be too formitable. Punching your opponent in the face while standing behind a woman and some children isn't permitted.
