I like the introduction of the 10-point scoring system. Will definitely reflect the fights better than the way they currently are.

However, I'm not so sure about the removal of headgear. Essentially, they'll be making it all no different to pro fights.

The 10 point must will probably be better, but I'm not sure about the head-gear. Even though some studies point to it being rather ineffective at dulling the blow of a punch and the design being more for cuts, from experience I think it would be more dangerous for youngsters to start competing unprotected. The risk at the pro game is different, considering the level of experience of the fighter, propensity of reward, etc. We might start seeing still-growing (psychically) amateur prospects much more worn and prone to brain injury by the mere start of their pro career.

Maybe to curb the potential mishaps of a 10-point must system could be an accompanying points tally that has a maximum of, say, 10 clean punches in between the fighters to allow a judge to give it to the presumably more "effective" hitter.

yeah, there's one flaw alright. The AIBA commissioner sends his most trusted goons around with a suitcase and go to each country with boxers in the Olympics and tells them to fill it up or else. USA didn't fill it to his satisfaction and there you go.

Why would GB dominate the medals? There are only so many events you guys can get bull**** decisions in, and you are absolutely **** at just about everything else.

You are on a good path for having the most blatant boxing robberies in an Olympics. Good work, brittards.

I'm in favor of pro style judging coming back to AM boxing but not the headgear removal.

Exactly the points I was getting at.

The other thing is that Amateur boxing has been a growing sport recently. More people (at least who I know) Have been getting into it and more people have been talking about the olympic boxing. With these changes, Amateur boxing basically becomes pro boxing but with less rounds (I heard somewhere that they are making some tournaments with longer rounds), less money and bigger gloves. While in the ring the size of the gloves make a huge difference stopping KO's, to the average viewer who doesn't realise it it will just look like a pro fight. Amateur boxing and Pro boxing are two very very different sports at the moment, these changes will blend them to one in a way and many young amateurs will just turn professional rather than box amateur as they'll be doing the same thing as they would amateur but for money.

The idea of getting cut from the lack of headgear will also put of a lot of people who are interested in joining a boxing gym or becoming amateurs. I just don't agree with it to be honest, I wish I could change my vote now that I think about it. It's a terrible idea. The judging in these olympics hasn't been nearly as bad as some people are making out (And before people accuse me of being a brittard, I'm a pro-independence Scot) and I do like the fact that some decisions have been over turned by a higher power.

I think that appeals should be brought to light more and taken more seriously. If a fight is a daylight robbery it should be over turned. Simple.

The quality of officials need to improve, the scoring system doesn't.

I'm absolutely in favour of a 10 point must system. I think this Olympic games shows that there isn't any real debate about this change. It's necessary.

As for the headguards, I think it'll lead to better fights and will allow amateurs to develop into better pros. What's not to like?

Cuts and swellings due to headbutts, which could be very detrimental in the Olympics if a fighter wins a fight but has swelling or a gash from the previous fight.

We have to keep in mind that headbutts back in the days when AM's didn't wear headgear didn't happen that often cause there weren't as many southpaws in boxing then as it is now. And the majority of times when a headbutt happens, its because one fighter is a southpaw and the other orthodox.

    **** yes... Drop the headgear
Adjust the glove size (Ounce) per weight limit. (Pro style)
& bank on the honesty of the good ole 10pt must.
    ^Yeah I know right

    Otherwise it's glorified fencing.

Definitely for eliminating head-gear, given that it only started being used in the 80's in Olympic competition. Yes, it increases the chance of cuts and swelling, but it requires fighters to become more adept defensively to avoid that.

As for the 10 point must system, it could be good if punching effectiveness is given greater consideration. But if a jab still counts as much as a power-punch that knocks an opponent silly, then you're still going to run into the same problems in terms of scoring anyway. The emphasis needs to be on clean effective punching if you really want this system to work better than the old one.

I dont understand the headgear removal its not good for safety and cuts but the ten point must system is a must
