He's a much better H2H fighter than any ranking you can give him. The guy is so hard to rank, I don't even know.

I agree..If Haglar could do it so could Oscar..I truely believe that at 140 De La Hoya would have given any " greats " a hard time and he beats most of them....even at WW I can only name a few that could truely beat him

Mosley by nature was a bigger guy...I think towards the end of his career he was killin himself trying to make weight...but I could be wrong

Of course he isn't a bum he was tough as nails and damned good. Power puncher and the rest just looking for reasons to hate.

great post. I agree. Had he wiped out Quartey and Mosley like he did Ruelas and Paez, and battered Trinidad like he did Chavez at 140 I would say he is ATG material. I do think he could match up with anyone and be competitive, but he would lose to most of the great guys like Hearns,Leonard,Duran,Whitaker (prime),Mayweather.

his left hook at 140 was great, although some of those guys were not exactly top fighters. They were standing there ready to be hit with the counter left. Had Oscar stayed at 140 he could have built his legacy at that weight.

De La Hoya spent most of his career fighting guys that were bigger than him...and taller

You don't get much taller at 140 than 5'11" like Oscar was, and there are some fighters I would have trouble picking Oscar over at that weight, but he was great. Not as high as they come, but he can be rated high h2h.
