No Version of Wladimer Klitschko Could Beat "That Past Best" Lewis, Vitali Fought

Great post, however I feel as you said the intangibales and sheer ruggedness of Lewis would overwhelm him...and I'm talking about the past prime version also.

Today's Waldo(which IMO is his prime) would never engage Lennox the way Vitali did.
Lennox-Vitali was a balls-out war.

Wlad would use his superior speed and footwork and try to outbox lennox from the outside.
I'm very confident that the Wlad who fought haye would decision the Lennox who fought Vitali.


Waldo has all the necessary qualities over his brother except for the chin, and their styles couldn't be more different; that's why Vit found Byrd very frustrating meanwhile Wald beat him rather easily both times.
So if Lennox TKO6 the tougher brother that does not automatically mean that Waldo's doomed.

 

The best version of Wlad, the current version has defensive issues when pressured.
Any version of Lewis, knowing the potential to break him down, would beat this version of Wlad.

That said, the earlier version of Wlad would fare better b/c Lewis wouldnt know about the defensive coordination issues, and when he felt the superior Wladimir jab/cross combo, he may have been to tentative to go for it.

Lewis<Wlad. PERIOD.

 

Lewis would KO Wlad.

Wlad is no where near Lewis' level and would not be able to lean on Lewis or out jab him. In the end Lewis would show Wlad up for what he really is.. a dominate champ in an extremely weak era. While Lewis dominate in one of the best eras.

What does this make Lewis's prime years then?

Wlads grab and clinch wont work, Lewis is at his most DANGEROUS in the clinch.

Of course Lewis beats Wlad. Even the worst Lewis would be too much. Lewis' ability to adapt and his power would make easy work of Wlad.

Let's be real here folks, lewis beats Wlad 4/5 times except for Wlad landing a Rahman type punch and ending it which is possible. Wlad hasn't fought too many (none that I can think of now) fighters that possess Lewis's attributes. Good size (6'5" 250lbs), strength, great technical ability (Steward taught Wlad everything he taught Lewis), and most important, heart. Remember Lewis fought the greats of his era, beat every man that stood in front of him (he didn't have a big brother to vanquish his losses), Had Riddick Bowe downright scared to fight him and was UNDISPUTED. Lewis vs Wlad would be like a guy who has been in a few street fights vs a guy who throws punches in the mirror. Lol.

 

Why the **** do people claim the era that Lewis fought in was so much stronger than Wlads.

Take away Holyfield and a Mike Tyson that I could probably beat and your left with Michael Grant, Kirk Johnson Henry bloody Akinwande.

The 2 best young heavies to come around during Lewis's era he didn't fight (Byrd and Ruiz).

Even Manny Steward admitted that Lewis beat the better fighters.:huh

Steward: "I said that he was my best heavyweight. Because he did accomplish and do things that Wladimir has not did. He had big fights, he knocked out opponents. Wladimir has more talent, but the one that you have to give the credit, to the people who have actually beaten good fighters. And Lennox beat more good fighters than Wladimir has at this stage, although Wladimir has more talent than Lennox.

 

I'm not saying Lewis hasn't beaten good/great fighters. I think Mercer, Holyfield and Ruddock are his 3 best victories but other than that the people he beat would be on par with the Thompsons, Ibragimovs, etc of the boxing world.

Don't get me wrong Lewis is a great fighter, no doubting that. But his resume is not as untouchable as people on this board ( mainly Brits) make it out to be.

 

I think very highly of Lewis and think he would be the most difficult fight for Wladimir (if they ever fought) out of every HW champion.

In saying that, I would pick

. Lennox has never won a fight after being knocked down. Wlad's speed, technique, and accuracy make it very difficult for Lewis to dodge his punches for the entire fight.

If Wlad connects (which would eventually happen IMO), Lewis is on his back and not beating the count.
