Was Lucian Bute one of the biggest hype job that got exposed in modern boxing?

Hardcore fans know Bute had already lost to Andrade.

I did think his performance against Johnson was class. Lucian has fought better opposition than he's given credit for.

 

Danny Jacobs was a bigger hypejob than Bute was. Bute was a legit world champ that lost to another world champ. Dumb ass thread.

 

Which bute admitted he counted it as a L, and came back and knocked him out in a rematch.

I tell you what happened with the froch fight. Froch fought 110% and bute fought 50%, the better man lost.

This was like hagler losing to willie monroe, the better fighter had an off night and the winner fought way higher than his normal ability.

I will bet my ESB account froch can't K.O him again

I wanted Bute to win and I was convinced Bute would win. What happened I will never know. Froch had a great game plan which he carried out to perfection. He quickly closed the distance and just attacked Bute with everything he had. Bute made it easy for him by backing against the ropes and squaring up. I'm still shocked a Bute's performance.

I look forward to seeing how both fighters progress from here. It wouldn't surprise me if Bute lost his next fight. Such a beating can have a damaging effect on a fighter. But as you say, Bute redeemed himself superbly against Andrade in the rematch. Likewise, I would not be surprised if Carl Froch lost to a fighter less talented than Bute.

Andre Dirrell needs to get his act together. The guy has so much talent.

 

Was going to say Lacy, the hype for that fight was much bigger if only because Joe was more celebrated by casuals than Froch is now. Besides, Joe would have done worse to Lacy than Froch did to Bute if Jeff didn't have a semi-solid chin. Calzaghe-Lacy was probably the most emphatic schooling over 12 rounds I've seen in my lifetime.

 

It was just a total flunking.

I've never seen a Unification fight be so one sided. Quick KO's send a message, but this was a twelve round beating.

There's been hype jobs brought down to a much greater level than Bute. . . I think most people who really knew boxing, didn't see this as a one-sided fight at all. . . I saw it at about Froch +150, Bute -175 type deal. . .


Tyson was a hype job who got exposed. . And not even by a world class boxer like Froch. .

Or Jeff Lacy getting RUINED by JOEY ZAGZ. . That's worse than Bute/Froch.

 

Bute is not and never will be a hype job.Glass Jaw Froch got extremely lucky and Lucian will reclaim his rightful place at the top of the ATG list when he stops Carl "The Worm" Froch in the first round.
There's nothing wrong with fighting bums in your hometown only to be robbed by criminally poor refereeing when you venture out of the house for the first time.
