Jeff Horn in the light welter divvy is our last.

He won through...has to take on a very tough Ukranian next up but the guy he has to take on didn't look great in his last bout IMO..bit ill disciplined...Jeff in with a chance but he will rightly be the underdog.

The scoring for the 1st round was a bit off Hooper kinda went downhill from there on in, didnt look like the same fighter that fought the american, bad luck, one hell of a talent thats for sure.

Too be honest , unless he goes with a very good coach who he listens too , i doubt if he will make the big time ,, He'll do OK on the Aussie scene and dominate ,but the world scene i doubt if his style is up to it ,, Relys to much on single punches The russian showed excatly what to do , with him keep a tight guard and walk him down . He has the natural talent but will need a lot of work .

Best thing he can do is pack his bags and go to the states like Pedan did , he needs a good strong willed coach , who can command his respect.

But then again he could'nt go to Camberra without breaking the rules and facking off home ..Goes to show really the lack of discipline in the Aussie camp , they just let him and Jai break the rules and do what they want ,,Even the t shirt buisness was bul**** , Australian boxing team has a manager , why did'nt he tell Hooper to take it off before he went out ..

Answers simple , The monkeys were playing the tune , while the grinder sat watching .

if he is to succeed in the professional ranks he definitely needs discipline, but i fear he will go with the mundine camp and fight a few bums, claim he is gunna conquer the world and never get any further than our domestic level,he dosnt like pressure

Agree with a few of your points here.
I agree and said as much the other day about Hooper needing to start his pro career not on these shores. He needs good strong tests early and build a strong cache of experience quickly as a pro. To many promisingf aussies linger here in Aus feeding on sub par opponents and thier careers never go anywhere....distratctions abound....including trying to build a career on hype and negatives....all the promise in the world but no base to build upon in Australia. Do the Robbie Peden route for sure....got him a legit title and much respect in the US.

I think as history shows, if you're gonna be a mega star and go places you need to at least get into the medal rounds, getting bashed up in prelims isn't gonna get you prepared for nothing once the head gear is off.

Hoopers swings away like an amateur, no pun intended. He needs to really tighten up his technique. He doesnt have to close up like a turtle but the style he has now will get him countered by any decent boxer. He will fight a few no-hopers in his first few pro bouts, believe he is unbeatable and the get ktfo by the first decent pro he fights. I hope he can find a really top pro boxing trainer who can make the most of his obvious ability. In that best case scenario he can be very good.

    Visual content administered by:
    International Olympic Committee

I put in a dispute, its being used under fair use laws. It must have been automaticly flagged due to the olympic logo being shown in the footage.
