Again slow night... So I had a bit of time. (Scouting for my boy Chavez I popped in some SM fights) Watched this modern day classic! First off forget about the 2nd fight for a minute. What were your scorecards?? (Anyone remember theirs?) I had it 115-113 Williams (Scored RD 10 a 10-10 draw) Both fighters were tired as ****. Yamsayin'
Sweet! I'll look thru this (I wonder if I posted in it???) Looking back can suck sometimes... lol #Hypocrisy
Day & night between a 154lbs Martinez & a Middleweight Version... Body size alone was crazy almost like he took a potion or sumthin' (1st fight Sergio was dead tired... Hasnt happened since) :think J/K Sergio fans... It's hard work.
I had it 115-113 for Sergio. Close fight, could have went either way. The backlash came from the 119-109 card Paul got though.
At the time that's exactly the feeling most had I agree 100%. When the decision came in we were all expecting the... "Not again"
Could go either way. I scored it slightly for Williams though. Martinez landed more telling blows but Williams won more rounds overall. I think that too many people forget that fights are scored by each individual round and not who landed hard punches.
Yup + Martinez looked weak during the middle RDS sucking wind bigtime. (Was 154lbs hard to make??. Or did Willy take dudes body?) Williams was defo matching Sergio on all fronts. This fight was definitely close. IMO, neither fighter has ever been the same since.
It was at 160lbs, brah. I believe it was the first time Sergio fought at that weight, not too sure about that tho.
Yup defo @ 160 lbs. But for some reason both fighter's were trying to make a statement to the boxing world by fighting @160. Apparently they were the "Most Avoided" fighter's on the planet so in order for this to go down they had to move-up to MW.
