Revisited: Martinez Vs. Williams I

Williams by 2 points if I remember.

 

I had it 114-114.

 

IIRC Williams was scheduled to fight Pavlik for the MW title but Pavlik pulled out because of an injury (after already pushing the fight back about two months due to injury). Martinez replaced Pavlik but because the change was like a month before the fight they left it at 160 as that's what Williams was training for.

 

Good close fight though, I watch it now and again. Draw would have been fair, no problem either with either winning.

Both entered the ring at 166 which is fairly normal for a Junior-Middleweight anyway, i really don't think the weight made any difference. The fact that Sergio only had a few weeks to prepare for the fight and that Williams had been training for a tall-upright orthodox fighter rather than a slick Southpaw had more bearing on the fight than the weight imo.

I had the fight scored for Sergio by a point or two, can't remember which. In fact, it was a great fight so i'll rewatch it later and score it then.
