Why does Chad Dawson get a pass for fighting shot old fighters time and time again?

It just happens that these old boxers where all at the top of the division. Infact aside from the tarver rematch I think each of the fighters where top 5 or better going into the fight.

Plus diacanou, adamek and ward prove he's willing to fight young dangerous opponents as well.

 

thinks its fair to say it was one of the worst era's in 175 history, full of B/C level fighters, proven PED users, in combination with old men and a journey man gate-keeper thrown into the mix like glen johnson.

the only reason it had any relevance was due to most of the fighters being american and the exposure given to it by HBO.

The division has had much worse era's in the past. There was a period whilst jack johnson was champion that literally nobody fought for the belt for years at a time.

The period just after spinks was pretty shitty also.

This is up there tho, until now with pascal and dawson, the main players in the division over the previous 8 years or so where tarver, johnson, woods, hopkins, calzaghe and, due to name value, jones. All past prime (aside from johnson who was in the form of his life) and mid 30's.

Even the other belt holders now are who? Cloud (schooled off campillo), shumenov (schooled off campillo), cleverly (one victory of note in murat who was schooled off campillo) and I don't even know who the wbo champ is but they'd probably get schooled off campillo as well.

In reality the top 3 are probably dawson, pascal and campillo. A very weak division indeed, no wonder dawson is moving down to the smw division.

 

Simple ,Chad didn't wait for certain people to get old to fight them .he fought whomever the top guys in the division were ..Joe on the other hand waited to fight certain guys to slow down so that he can over come his fear of flying to face them :hey

i think thats the point he is trying to make considering the only old fighters calzaghe ever faced were jones at 39 (whilst he himself was 36) and a 43 year old hopkins who was ranked the top man at 175 and number 4 p4p, sandwiched inbetween the best winning run of his career v winky, tarver, pavlik, jones, pascal.

Calzaghe was doing WBO run arounds, Dawson is moving up and down weight class to get the best in the ring.
