I dunno. I mean if he has long term plans to turn pro then he might aswell get out of the am game now. There are a lot of things in the pro game he'll need fo develop. Looking at him fight now, if he was to transfer to pro he has a lot to learn and needs a lot of correction, the sooner he does it the better. 4 more years as amateur and those habits and traits will be harder to eradicate.

Also at 22, 23 he is not too young and almost physically developed fully..

 

If he's going pro, he should leave the UK and go the hard route stateside..

 

It doesn't matter when or where he turns pro, he will never be any good, he has size, that's really it, and even then he's not that big for a modern heavy, price and fury would tower over him

if he was 17 I might say there is some hope, but he's not.

He doesn't have the natural speed or movement, he lacks natural ability

He's a plank, like tom Dallas

If he is extremely lucky he will end up as a journeyman, maybe European champion, maybe.

Why not turn pro? let's face it, if you are gonna get punched in the face for a living you may as well be getting paid. He could potentially secure some decent pay days if he is brought along well, and why not!! Go earn a crust doing something you enjoy and have worked hard at.

 

He should stay amateur in my opinion he needs a hell of a lot of work, he's so raw it's incredible.

either way i don't want to see this guy mentioned as a title contender or anything for AT LEAST 4 years.

 

As I say it depends on his long term ambitions, which I assume is pro boxing. In that case, he should go learn his trade in the pro game sooner rather than later, god knows he needs a lot of help and needs to eradicate a lot of the amateur game teachings as soon as possible.

For the record, I dont think he'll make a very good pro. As someone said maybe Danny Williams level.

 

If Joshua wins gold that medal will be tainted , the same goes for Ogogo .

 

I think he will be another Audley Harrison ( without the boasting ) , btw : ¿ where's 08 Olympic Champion De Gale ? , he should've been a World Champ by now . Peace .

You could probably say the same for a lot of olympic medals across all the sports.

In my eyes Carl Lewis's olympic achievments are tainted. Most people remember him as one of the greatest olympians ever though :conf

 

To me he's like a bit better version of Tom Dallas, that sounds harsh but really, Dallas does most of what Joshua does, and Joshua does not do most of what Dallas doesn't.

Both fairly big (but not giant) heavies, with a bit of a dig, but basic, plodding and poor defense

 

Dont get me wrong, I dont think he's great or would make a great pro. Just saying, from his point of view, if he is gonna go pro, might aswell do it now...

 

anyone else not think much of the azerbajani, Medzinov (spelling?). Hes up there on IABAs supposed 'elite' fighter list and world champ, world number one but he didnt impress me that much.

Dyckho on the other hand looks a class fighter and depending on his chin and ambition, maybe a future HW champ

 

if he turns pro the way he is now he will be knocked out before he reaches any sort of decent level, another 4 years amateur will give him 4 years valuable experience that the pro game will not be able

 

I think Joshuas hype has went against him now, got the decision in a close fight against arguably the best amateur super heavyweight in the world and now people are comparing him to Tom Dallas?

Are use messing lads? He is clearly on another level to fighters like that. I think he will win at least a European title if he goes pro.
