    #1 Lennox Lewis
Beat everyone he faced, unified world title, wiped out available opposition, avenged only two defeats

    #2 David Haye
Speedy, explosive won kudos for 5 HW wins, reputation damaged by losing timidly to Wlad

    #3 Frank Bruno
    Powerful but vulnerable punhcher.

    #4 Gary Mason
Heavy handed was world ranked for several years. Fought Lewis on even terms until eye damaged

    #5 Henry Akinwande
Elusive, unebeaten when he challenged Lewis.

    #6 Tommy Farr
Rugged, well schooled Welshman who gave Louis a hard fight.

    #7 Henry Cooper
Aggressive box-puncher, but to small for the elite and cut easily.

    #8 Herbie Hide
Quick fisted with explosive power but soft chin.

    #9 Bruce Woodcock
Decent boxer with a good punch and immense courage

    #10 Don Cockell
Highly skilled light-heavyweight but weight troubles forced him to move up.

Fitzsimmons was excluded because "he left England at seven and never returned."

    Thoughts?

Not a bad list head to head but I wouldn't have Haye above Bruno in fact I wouldn't include current fighters. Bugner should be in there.

Yeah I read that and I was surprised that fitz was left out.

I guess they're ranking h2h and if so it's fairly solid.

Lewis speaks for himself. Haye is naturally athletic with ko power in either fist. Bruno is a natural candidate given his pro success.

The rest could probably go in any order. Hide looked like the real deal but he couldn't compete with super heavyweights. Akinwande looked pretty skillful for a big man until the the lewis fight. Mason is somewhat enigmatic.

All in all a decent list really.

Akinwande left England at 4 Lewis at 12, cant see why that should count against Fitzsimmons just cos he never came back, that make him any less British then?

Any top 10 British HW list that excludes Bugner is frankly ridiculous.

    Awful list.
David Haye at #2 is disgraceful.

Joe Bugner should be on there.

How the hell Gary Mason can be rated above Tommy Farr, I don't know either. Farr should be top 2 or 3.

Going 12 rounds with Wlad is his best HW achievement.

And was his "reputation" based on shooting his mouth off, beating Audley Harrison ... or nicking a decision over Sugar Valuev ?

FIVE heavyweight wins. Is that a lot ? :huh

Oh, but he is "speedy" and "explosive". :patsch

Fitz was a cornish pasty, without doubt.

If the list is h2h i'd agree with haye being number 2. Bugner definitely deserves a shout though.

    I don't know.
Mason wasn't born here. Nor was Hide.

I don't class Fitzsimmons as a British boxer.
