I agree, I suppose the only downside is time isn't on Scott's side, he could have at least another tune up though I would feel more confident if he did.
I'd go with Harrison in this. Murray's style plays into his hands IMO. The Murray of 2009-10 would destroy him, but his regression technically will cost him dearly here.
SCOTT HARRISON is one bout away from fighting for a world title. This content is protected Harrison has a big title chance EXCLUSIVE by BERT MITCHELL The former WBO featherweight champion will box Manchester's John Murray in an eliminator for the WBO lightweight title which is currently held by Ricky Burns. The fight will be the chief supporting bout to Burns' defence of his global belt against Londoner Kevin Mitchell at the SECC on September 22. If Harrison defeats Murray he will then meet the winner of the Burns v Mitchell all-British dust-up before Christmas. Harrison's manager Alex Morrison said: "Scott will face Murray in a final eliminator for the WBO lightweight title held by Ricky Burns. "Should he beat Murray, as I fully expect him to, then we will have an all-Scottish world title fight before Christmas this year in Glasgow. "To have Burns v Mitchell, supported by Harrison v Murray on the one card, plus also John Simpson in a Celtic title defence is, in my opinion, as good a promotion as has ever been put on in Scotland. "Myself and Frank ****** are delighted to be putting a card of this quality on at the SECC." The news that Harris on, at 34, is now just one fight away from realising his dream of fighting for a world title, just six weeks short of the seventh anniversary of his last world fight when he beat Australian Nedal Hussein at the Kelvin Hall on November 5, 2005 will arguably be the most remarkable story in boxing this year. Murray will represent a tough final obstacle to Harrison's attempt at redemption from the six wasted years when his life was engulfed in trouble. But Morrison is confident the former champion's class will prevail. He said: "Murray fights one way and that is to come forward throwing everything. "Scott is not given enough credit for the quality of his boxing off the jab. "My dream is to be promoting, in conjunction with Frank ******, an all-Scottish world-title fight between Ricky Burns and Scott Harrison before the year is out, and we are two fights away from that."
apologies to Alek Morrison for questioning his boxing brains on another thread, hes certainly made the right decision here:good Its ****in great having the teak tough tartan terror Scotty Harrison back:happy:happy:happy
Murray is made for Scott, he plods forward in unintelligent straight lines, has a poor defence. The big differences are scott has a proven method in his come forward style, he has a strong defence and jab and has a world class boxers brain unlike Murray. I see the fight being potentially close in stages, but eventually scott will outclass and stop Murray. I have had my dissagreements with Billy Nelson on previous postings, but hes right Harrison and Burns will both win on the night, and i am sure Billy can testify that harrison's boxing brain in vastly underatted.
I think im going to fly up and watch this fight and stay with some friends for the weekend. Quality card and as it will only cost a plane ticket and beer money it seems daft not too, im just not sure I can keep up the pace with the mad Scottish *******s when it comes to drinking atsch
Scott has a fantastic boxing brain and will make the ring seem like a telephone box to John,John IMO is made to measure for scott in boxing terms, only scott stamina that's a concern through his time out the ring
Billy dae u think when burns beats winner of harrison/murray FW will grow some baws and get ricky a world title he deserves?
Scott will anihalate Murray, make no mistake about that. Murray has the head movement of an oak tree and nobody at Murrays level stands in front of Scott in a brawl and wins. Murray getting a worse beating than Rios gave him.
Murrays not a busy enough fighter to gas Scott IMO Billy. Scott is better, fitter, faster, tougher than Murray, or anyone Murrays been in with. I've NO DOUBT at all Scott batters Murray senseless.
Never in a million years does John Murray destroy Scott Harrison. Murrays technical regression is due to his increase in opposition quality. Lee McAllister with more self belief and better sparring should have beaten him in 09 or whenever. Scott will, and always would have done, have much too much for Murray.
