Think it's a bit silly to say they are running scared. McEwan has had two loses recently. It would be more in his line to fight someone like Kerry Hope before targeting Barker/Macklin/Murray who are looking for world title fights.
I don't agree in the running scared but Craig Mcewan is a very talented boxer. I think Kerry Hope would be the perfect next step for him then look for Barker, Macklin and Murray
All joking aside, thats bad news. Fuxake Billy, train the guy before its too late. Be his trainer/manager. The lad has as much natural talent as Ricky Burns, dont let him **** his talent away with a half hearted approach to the obvious problem.
That may be true Dunky but it doesn't matter who trains you when you don't have the hunger and desire to be the best. I'm sure it would help being at Billy's gym but Billy can't be with him 24/7. Craig has always been used to training his own way since he was a kid and was boxing for his dad Rab at the Clovenstone gym, all of his training was based around hundreds of rounds of sparring and boxing every week, there was no hard graft involved, I believe this could be one of the reasons he has never really had the ground in stamina that comes with years of running and conditioning. I have even spoke to people who knew him and were over in America and they say the same he loved sparring but not the hard work, is this the reason that Freddie Roach never really seemed to have much interest in him? I think if he had been with a trainer like Billy Nelson or Peter Harrison earlier in his career to make him realise the work ethic needed to be a complete professional and champion, then Craig may have reached the heights his undoubted talent could have took him too.
Its Craig choice to train in Edinburgh not mine.I'd much rather he trained at mine but he has family commitments and he doesnt drive
For the record, Craig has been training well under John McCarron over the past few weeks. In fact, many have said he looks fitter than he has in some time. John's been working on getting him to utilise his range and pick his shots more, rather than relying on volume, as he has done up to now. Others have stated that Craig is known for being less than eager when it comes to conditioning work, but again he's been working hard in this department also. He needs to up his game when it comes to eating and resting properly though. There's no doubt that Craig has bundles of talent. Whether he has the hunger at this stage of his career time will tell.
