Given that Clayton dominated the third by close to the same margin as Evans dominated the first, imo; and the two point deduction that should have been called against Evans, then a Clayton could still have secured a win on the cards, even if one were to call the second even (and I think if anyone were to have gotten the edge in the 2nd frame, it would have been Clayton in any event).

I don't think it's as bad as some other decisions that have occurred in these Olympics, but I personally don't think it was that great of a decision, either. Good fight between the two, no matter what one thinks of the zult.

On the same basis that Spence filed his against Vikas (penalty should have been deducted against Evans after the third caution for the same infraction). Not saying it'll be overturned, but that's the rationale behind it.

Well, it's still a more relevant topic than team usa in these olympics...

 

Appeal got denied, which is too bad considering its a 100% valid case. There's no denying that the British boxer was warned three times for the same infraction and was not deducted a point. I haven't heard what the grounds for denying the appeal were but I'll like to know what was so different about this situation. I'm not big on boxers being able to win bouts on appeals but I did think we had a pretty strong case and I thought Clayton deserved the win.

As for the fight itself it was a good fight and not one of the worst decisions ever....but a pretty god dam bad one. IMO Clayton made a mess of the first round and then the judges and the ref made a mess of the last round. I've watched this fight twice now. 7-2 in the first round is a bit wide for Evan compared to some other scores but clearly Evans dominated the first 2 minutes of the fight. So you can ***** about the score but really it wasn't that bad. The second round Clayton controlled and should have won. He closed the distance well and got the better of the almost all the exchanges. The shots that Evans did get were mostly landed during exchanges that he lost. He didn't land too many "telling" blows in the round. 6-3 was a fair score but 6-4 would probably have been the better score. The last round is really when Clayton got ****ed. I think at most you could give Evans 2 points. Added in the penalty that should have been and Clayton should have won the round by at least a 4 point margin.

I don't actually have a problem with Clayton losing the count back because I think he probably lost the first round worse then he won the 3rd round but I don't think it should have gone to a count back.


Which ever way you saw this fight though, it is clear that at 21 y/o Evans is a talent for the future and Clayton is a very tough/strong fighter with a boxer-pressure fighter style that is well suited for the pros. I hope both of them turn pro after the games so they can get it on again in the future.

I find them really repetative, they talk a bit too much..

 

Yeah - it is a bit much, but I suppose that's because we're listening to them for three hours on a daily basis.

Ronald seems to imagine a lot of what's going on too. The amount of times I've heard him going off about someone being hurt and their legs being all over the place when they're absolutely fine is ridiculous.

Plus, they're always urging people to throw in combinations, despite it being clear that this is not an effective way of scoring points.

On the whole though they're not too bad. I think the beeb could have done with a few different pairings just to keep it interesting tho, rather than just swapping the blow by blow guy over.

 

Yeah, this is true, I've never watched so much tv consecutively, so its bound to get tedious at some point

its not points in each round ....nearly but totally
if a fighter has 4 points after rd 1 the score he gets in the next rd is interlinkjed with the
last round as the 5 judges averages are constantly changing
not very well explained but best i could put it

so people saying evenas was robbed rd 2 could be wrong because ponts clayton got in rd 1 could of eventually carried over to rd 2
