Good effort by Esparza, but she couldn't find the right distance. Jumping in from too far away.

This is another very good scrap in the women's lightweight division. Taylor has beautiful footwork and throws lightening combinations, but the Tajik kid is a canny operator and a fine counterpuncher with a cocky streak. A lot of the male boxers at these Olympics could learn a considerable amount from either.

Not content with ruining much of the men's competition with dreadful scoring the judges are now at work in the women's. The Brazillian should have been comfortably in the lead after three rounds. But instead Ochegeva was awarded a four point lead.

The American and the Kazakh middleweights are absolutely going to war here. Toe to toe brawling. The skill levels are notably lower than the lightweights, but it's certainly exciting.

Impressed by Shields here. Really explosive.

Shields, the US woman, may be the most exciting fighter of either gender in the Olympics. Not by any means the most skilled, but Christ does she like to bang. Blinding speed, punches in bunches, and doesn't seem to give a **** if she gets punched twice as long as she connects three times.

That was simply a lovely display. A fresh breath in womens boxing. Hope she grabs the gold tomorrow!

You don't see too many Olympic finalists with her bloody minded aggression, that's for sure. She fought like her deepest desire was to knock the Kazakh's head clean off.

Very true! She'll kill either of those who's fighting now just with her will to win.

I gave the Brazillian the 3rd round but I thought the Russian was more accurate and landed the cleaner shots in 1,2 and 4?
Also the speed of the Russia and her footwork was far to much for the Brazillian giril I though!

I can't get over Rau'shee losing in the first round. Again. I always believed he would be something special.
