I was watching the coverage on the Olympians. Freddie was nowhere in the video of their training. The team wasn't anywhere near to be found in the gym either. His involvement was minimal. Judging from what I've seen though, most of them have a pro-style of fighting. We need more amateur style fighters if we are to win the Olympics.

exactly freddie was just some being a consultant to these kids, giving them pointers. they have their own trainers.

the reason why they lost is because they lacked enough talent and or got robbed

Reason US fighters doing so bad are because they lack solid fundementals, Look at the eastern euro fighters very unslick but still successfull.

The lack of secuess by USA boxing goes way beyond who the trainer is. Times are changing. Boxing is not as popular as it used to be. There is a need not an opition, a need to get kids intrested in the sport at as young an age as possible.

he worked with them briefly and really cannot be blamed. the coach who brought him in was removed from his position and replaced about a month before the games. the sad part is that the new coach was unable to work the corners of the olympians because he had recently worked the corner for professional fights.

the blame can be placed on all of the usa's boxing coach's for not adapting to the style that wins in the olympics. they can be blamed for not having an understanding or a willingness to understand what was before them. the last coach to have that understanding was virgil hunter who prepared andre ward for his gold medal victory.

all that is a moot point now because the scoring system is going back to what it used to be and they are getting rid of headgears in the next olympics.

Why don't you blame roach for the destruction of the US economy and the the Libor banking scandal. Or maybe we can blame him for the Massive use of Coke in the US. Arr I just remembered the Mayweathers had that market cornered at one time. US Boxing has sucked for sometime or haven't you noticed.

the article is half truth half bull****. i won't address the bull****.

all they have to do is look at the last guy to win a gold medal for the u.s. he wasn't even mentioned in the article. neither was his coach. that's andre ward and virgil hunter. they got it right. virgil wasn't an olympic coach but he made the trip with andre to the olympics. if anyone understands olympic boxing....it's them. ward hasn't lost a single bout since he was 13 yrs old.

imo, freddie had some great ideas...but he is so far removed from amateur boxing he wouldn't have really been able to do much for them. roach is more popular than anything....but there are more capable trainers out there to get our fighters to gold. the key is....these kids are being removed from the trainers that helped them get to the top in the first place. why separate them from that and place them into a cookie cutter system where the coaches don't have enough time to gel with the fighters and understand how they work...think...and win.

teddy atlas beating a dead horse on tv chose to blame the scoring system...i think it's lack of understanding more than anything. the cubans and russians have adapted and totally understand the system.
