I was rewatching the fight and with all this ped talk nowdays. I examined the fight to scrutinize vargas alleged supernatural strength. When viewing the fight i realized that he was not the stronger man in the ring he was just figthing the stronger man strategy. I noticed oscar did not wear down in this fight but was expending alot of energy and was getting hit flush at times but it seemed like in the later rounds he was still fresh. If you really look at the fight closely he was actually the stronger of the two but was fighting a style of fight that did not exude that. Oscar before this fight had faded alot in the later rounds however not in this fight and he was suprisingly strong. Just my 2 cents. Maybe there is a reason why he will not disclose his records. By the way i a true oscar de la hoya fan.
I think him not fading also had to do with the fact that he wanted to shut Vargas the **** up once and for all.
And when the hell did Oscar fade "a lot" in the late rounds before that? He faded once, in the Mosley fight. He won the Whitaker, Quartey, Molina, Brehdal, and Carr fights in the late rounds.
Yes i know because it was the road to stardom, but even while vargas was on the juice oscar was still stronger than him.
Yes i know vargas was and oscar was still stronger than him. Which is weird because naturally everybody assumed that vargas was a naturally stronger man and with juice he would be even stronger, but he was not.
Oscar wasn't the stronger man at all. Oscar was just the better boxer, with better technique, and better footwork. Once Vargas found out he couldn't hurt him at all, he was pretty much screwed.
oscar faded against, Mosely 2 times, Trinidad and fades against Quartey. If it was not for the big left hook he landed against Quartey in the final round he was on his way to his first L.
I'm an oscar fan but please watch the fight and oscar is clearly stronger, he just did not fight the kind of fight to dispaly his streghtn just his skill and technique. But if vargas was on juice and could not hurt him and hit him flush many many times.
