See that one body shot Khan landed in round 1? That won him the fight. Maidana was gassed from then on and wasn't landing with full power.

He needs to find a trainer who is gonna teach defence first and standing and trading second.

That first punch that put Khan on his ass is a carbon copy of the punch that Glen Johnson landed on Roy Jones in their fight landed right behind the ear. Jones never got up and stayed asleep for sometime after.

Credit to Khan he got up even though he legs were shot.

Like the Op said and various others, he should have been tying Garcia up and backing up, not trying to fight his way out.

I agree with those that said 'Arrogance'

Khan didn't learn from Peterson exposing him.
For starters, Khan didn't even accept defeat.

He needed to make changes after the Maidana fight
and didn't. I think Khan is done - with a chin like his,
he is going to need a defence better than Floyds.

Phenomenal thread. In his defense, Khan is far from the first 20 something to over estimate himself. The key for the rest of his career, IMO, is whether his arrogance gets in the way of learning how to be a better fighter.

It makes you wonder how much time Freddy actually spends with him. He definitely needs a trainer who's gonna give him all of his time. He's too good to be a part time project.

Whenever Khan and Pacquiao step up to a real threat, they come up short. Nobody even cares about these two fighters anymore, and i mean nobody including most boxing fans

He's style is tailor made for a power puncher that know how to set traps. He is a dream opponent. Glassy chin that's willing to expose that brit tle chin. By arrogantly throwing leaving a split second to punch his expose chin with a sweet counter hook.

In summary Khan is a perfect opponent for Garcia.Styles makes fights. There's just things Khan does that Garcia can take advantage of.Abundant opportunities specially when Amir is in that comfort zone where he is throwing uppercut from way out.He doesn't realize he is vulnerable to getting sparked.

Part of it is his technique and amateurish style.
