It's still against the "rules" of boxing.
It's as gay as Wlad who was putting his full 235 lbs on the back of Haye.

Foreman-Ali for all the marbles SHOULD have been in the Astrodome, George deserved that. But Muhammad controlled the joy-stick so to speak and could dictate all the specifics of their scrap which he did.
After all these years I'm just trying to put that time in perspective.
Prime Ali beats prime George, no debate with me.
But had things played out as I mentioned above, IMHO there is a good chance that Ali may have walked away without the title. Watching film, reading books, listening to interviews, seeing the Zaire fight, seeing everything that went on prior to their stepping thru the (loose) ropes, in retrospect, tells me now that George was a beaten man before he even stepped into the ring.

Don King put it in Zaire, because that government paid him $10,000,000 to host the fight.

He couldn't get that anywhere else.

That's why George's corner seemed in so much chaos. Archie Moore knew that the Daleks were fiddling around with the ropes, but nobody believed him !

maybe im missing some important fact, but whats all this balls about it SHOULD have been at the Astrodome. Why? Cos it was georges backyard? Zaire was hardly Ali's backyard.

1st rule of business; Go where the money is.

So am i to believe that houston offered more money than Mobotu? If not then stop whinging about how it should've been in houston and carry on with the next excuse of how george was robbed/cheated etc etc...

Another amusing thing I find about the 'George was affected by the heat' excuse was that,pre-fight,the African heat was toted as yet another disadvantage that the ageing 32 year old Muhammad Ali would have. After all,the younger stronger George Foreman would handle the heat and humidity better, would n't he ? A lot of scribes mentioned this. Then,lo and behold,post-fight it was one of the reaons why the 'unbeatable' Foreman lost

This post is meant for those who happened to read this thread and are not familiar with this forum and its members .

Ignore what "Stevie G" and "johnmaff36" type , they rarely comment on any other subject than Ali , and when they post about Ali their replies are full with lies and bias .

People like them and "Ali_" are responsible for the prejudices and false myths about Ali .

On many subjects , one who wants to know the truth should ignore most of this forum's posters .
Read boxrec , watch youtube and while some times posters' opinions and extra information can be beneficial , most time it is not .

Posters like these and others , with a not so well disguised agenda , would have been banned in a good forum that respects itself .

There are other , more respected posters here that I would have also recommended to ignore , if your interest is the truth that is .

Sometimes they might come up with an interesting piece of real information , but they will only present it in order to promote their own agenda .

"Stevie G" , "Ali_" , "johnmaff36" , "PowerPuncher" , "McGrain" , "janitor" , "TheGreatA" , "SuzieQ49" , "My2Sense" and others pollute this and other forums with lies which are usually accepted as the truth .

What makes these people's opinions dangerous is that they are regarded serious posters and many times they do know what they post about but intentionally ignore facts and parts of the truth which were and are pushed into their faces plenty of times .
They keep repeating their lies and get good recognition for it .
Beware of whom you choose to consider an "expert" .

Frank, look over the threads on this site, and you'll see that all of us whom you mention comment on loads of fighters other than Muhammad Ali.

For all new posters on here,Frankenfrank is quite a knowledgeable poster on MOST fighters. But when it comes to Ali,his brains switch places with his backside. Maybe because Ali nicked one of his girlfriends  ;)

And once again Frank mendaciously puts forth a list which does not include me amongst dissemblers and myth makers.

I once listed "Stevie G" , "Ali_" and "johnmaff36" as such whose replies are concerned mainly with Ali and then , listed the lie supporters and spreaders separately .

In this quote of his , since he can not argue with the truth , "Stevie G" pretends to misunderstand my post that I put clearly .

Fine, I agree with you. And of course, the murderer money-grubbing ***** King wouldn't have wanted it anywhere else but in a place where he could line his slobbering $$ pockets.
Read: an African republic site for this fight benefited Ali to..the..max. George was basically a young athletic punk and Muhammad had George looking like a white man before he even stepped between the ropes over there.
Again...Ali, outside of Patterson and Sugar and, perhaps, Griffith is my fav fighter of all time. But when I go back and look at things in retrospect, he was given major advantages thruout his 2nd career.
And yes, the fight should have been in the Astrodome or the Garden but, you're right...money talks and loose ropes and bull**** walks...did I get that right? :D

I've concluded this fight was a fix but holding it in Zaire didn't have anything to do with that.
Zaire was where the money was. If Afghanistan had offered King $10,000,000 it would have been held there and the results would have been the same. Ditto the Astrodome.
