I think the fact Murray has been out for a while, not aslong as Harrison mind but I reckon this wold be a good match up...
would have beena top undercard fight this, its a shame.i dont think murray fancied it though by looks of it.
don't think he bottled it, but think he has been partying hard with his friends and having a sniffing good holiday
the fact you would even consider Murray or Harrison as a potential opponent for Ricky Burns speaks volumes. Murray is european level at best and has not fought for how long? and Harrison has had 1 fight in 6 years and is a recovering alcholic... and the winner of those two is worthy of a world title shot? really? world class opposition for a world class champion? :rofl If Ricky Burns gets past Kevin Mitchell then he should be going after a fight Broner, shut up all those people who said he ducked Broner at SFW and earn some decent money but we all know that will never happen ... :good
I get what Rob is saying, that Gallagher should just train the guy and not manage, but he said in BM that he didn't want Murray vs Mitchell "because I know what styles my fighters struggle with'' - given that Mitchell was coming off over a year long layoff after a bad KO loss.... and now he's not keen on Harrison that's alarming. This ought to be the tune up fight that he's referring to before going back to a higher level. As for Billy, I'm disappointed if this is the limit of his ambitions. I guess other countries have champions that just fight their own domestic guys more often than not, but in this instance you've a **** head with one fight in seven years or a limited plodder coming off two bad KO losses. I'm not a Bronersexual unlike many on here (too many I might add) and think that Burns would have a decent chance - that ought to be the direction that he's pushed in.... preferably in the States for the bigger £££. No point fighting these guys for short money. Take the big fights.
I think Burns-Broner would be a cracking fight, I really hope it happens. Broner looks like he could become a star but Ricky's got a really tricky style for him I think and it could be a massive upset win for him if he took the fight. Don't get me wrong I'm happy to see Burns-Mitchell but I'd hope for better after this and a Murray-Harrison winner would be a step back rather than forward.
Called it before that Murray would want nowt to do with Harrison. Various names hoping Harrison falls off the rails, fear.
To be honest guys Ricky beats any of the names mentioned in this thread he wants the bigger names of coarse he does.
If he gets past mitchell which i think he should, i think broner would edge it against ricky, just a step too far for burns!
Joe has done this in the past, Crolla vs Limond springs to mind then a year or less later Crolla wins but Joe wasn't keen on that fight. Maybe Joe thinks John needs a soft fight to come back to. He knows his man better then any of us but personally this fight would be great to come back to. It's winnable and puts him right back in contention.. Anyways it's a shame but people did say it won't happen and they were right..
I really couldnt see him beating Broner Billy. I think Harrison still has a good chance, and I believe Mitchell is a live underdog. I think Burns v Mitchell is a tough assignment for Ricky.
A load of people on here are complaining about Ricky's current fight and potential future fights with British contenders. But the bottom line is this, they all make for a decent Saturday night scrap on Sky. So I'm happy enough. At least it isn't another Norwegian guy or that Larrea fellow (or whatever his name was). All fights named have the potential to become barnstormers. Get through mitchell, earn some decent money from a Harrison or Murray fight then unify with Broner once he has a strap or two. That's an ideal world for me. If he loses to Broner, then have a war with Gavin Rees. Domestic or not these are all mighty fine fights.
