Just how did Khan absorb all that punishment from Maidana?!

He's got a bad chin but what makes it worse is he's got chicken legs that can't hold him up.

I think the point has been mentioned already.

But I feel alot of this was down to the mental aspect of boxing.

Khan knew going into the Maidana fight that Maidana was a big strong puncher, he would feel all of his shots and somehow he had to survive them. So he was expecting to get hurt that's why when he did get hit, he coped with it pretty well. Also Maidana's punches were quite slow so he could anticipate them.

Whereas for the Garcia fight, Khan was expected to knock him out. No one actually thought Garcia could knock him out especially Amir. He wasn't expecting to get hit with a big flush shot and when he did, it was lights out. So I feel it was a mental game rather than a physical one as Maidana sure does punch a lot harder.

Also anyone who has boxed before knows getting hit flush by an unexpected punch affects you much more than a punch you're expecting to get hit with.

Khan has a decent chin but horrible defense. The initial shot he absorbed from Garcia was on his neck and behind the ear, not the chin. His equilibrium was thrown off and his legs weren't the same since.

Because Maidana was sparring toddlers in Cuba in preparation for that fight.

The punches you don't see coming hurt you the most, plus Khan was unlucky in the sense the Garcia money shot landed near the back of his neck, that's a sensitive part of your body a part which has no bone really just nerves.

Khan's chin's not the problem it's his defence and mind set.

Google what being punched in the neck does to your body. It's that simple. Garcia is a bumb who got lucky. Watch what happens to him if he fights, bradley , Judah , Peterson or Matthysse.

here is how I feel about it, and I know im gonna catch **** for it, but I really dont think Khan's chin is as bad as people make it out to be.

I'll be the first to say it isnt great, thats not debatable, but I honestly think his chin is average to just below average. You dont eat Maidana's best shots and stay up right if your chin is complete glass. I think its also worth noting that Garcia was absolutely tee'ing off on Khan. Landing one big shot after another, and Khan ate most of them surprisingly well. It was those two shots that landed in awkward places that did him in.

Im no huge Khan fan so im not trying to make excuses for him. I do like the fact that, one way or another, he always manages to be involved in exciting fights...but that is besides the point. The real point here is (and Ive been saying it a lot lately) the dude just has no defense at all. He leaves his chin hanging out to dry in almost all his exchanges, he has no head movement, he dosent clinch enough when in trouble and to top it all off he dosent have the power OR the accuracy that he believes he does to fight in the manner that he does. That all just proves he has poor ring IQ as well.

There have been plenty of fighters that have excelled and done great things with chins comparable to Khan's, but those fighters knew how to protect their weakest asset. In Khan's case its his **** poor defense and ring IQ that are his weakest assets, not his chin.

Yeah I agree. Khan needs a helmet and bat if he is ever going to step in the ring again.

His mindset too is bad. He needs to not let himself get KTFO. Just say "NO" to KTFO.

    :hi:
