Also the most self-destructive boxing night of the year. I suppose it's theoretically good for the sport that both promoters have put together decent cards for a change but it's a damn shame that the only thing that prompted this was a petty game of chicken that in actuality will not do anything positive for the long-term health of boxing.
In my personal opinion, I believe that the week before, September 8th, will be bigger. Dawson vs. Ward, Adamek vs. Walker, Klitschko vs. Charr, and so on... As for the fights on September 15, I'll go with: Martinez by KO (5) Canelo by KO (3) Ponce De Leon by UD Maidana by UD Marroquin by KO (11)
No way in hell do I see Golden Boy or Haymon letting one of their fighters on the Martinez-Chavez card.
its definitely looking like a great fight night. rafa v vasquez jr should be action packed. i think maravilla v chavez jr will be alot more interesting than people expect.
Gonna stick my neck out and predict Gonzalez v De Leon to be fight on the night. Think Macklin v Alcine will be very entertaining also. Macklin has a habit of making hard work of guys he should handle easier. Alcine ain't no bum either.
I have to watch Canelo fight but damn, I don't want to miss the Chavez/Martinez fight. Jr. with the upset.
My picks: Martinez UD, Alvarez TKO9, Gonzalez UD, Maidana TKO7, Marquez SD, Rigondeaux KO4, Macklin UD I agree with the guy who said that the week before, September 8th, will be a bigger night of boxing, I think decisively so. Andre Ward vs. Chad Dawson Vitali Klitschko vs. Manuel Charr Devon Alexander vs. Randall Bailey Lucas Matthysse vs. Ajose Olusegun Tomasz Adamek vs. Travis Walker Antonio DeMarco vs. John Molina Steve Cunningham vs. Jason Gavern Tony Bellew vs. Edison Miranda Bryant Jennings vs. Chris Koval Peter Quillin vs. TBA
I'm so ****ing pumped for this, been waiting a while, me and a buddy are setting up two tv's to watch both
I'll be ordering the PPV watching it live and recording the Canelo fight. I love DVR for nights like these.
