Just how did Khan absorb all that punishment from Maidana?!

Because Maidana isn't quite the power-puncher that he's made out to be...

Because Amir Khan has an Iron Chin. Amir is one of those men.

The action was repeatedly broken up, giving Khan lost of little chances to recover and breaking up Maidana's flow of attack.

Also, it wasn't as if Khan took the shots well, he was out on his feet and scraped through by the skin of his teeth.

Barely surviving whilst staggering all over the place and out on your feet is not having a good chin, it's luck.

Saying its luck is just as bad as the people saying khan got hit with a lucky shot, a comment Im sure you ridiculed.

I believe most fighters have this little sweetspot in their face that really is their off switch.

Some dont like getting hit right in the middle of the chin or the sides of the chin,or the temple as is the case with floyd and haye.
For amir khan its the end of the chin, right below the ear and near around it. This is what took him out against prescott and garcia I believe. he has this utter fragile region but when he gets hit with uppercuts right on the middle of the chin or overhand rights on his temple and above he can soak them up without problems..
thats where maidana landed throughout and why khan survived..

Ariza worked on his leg strength much more apparently. This helped him find the last bit of energy to stay on his feet. He was pretty much gone on his feet anyway, the only thing keeping him up was the extra conditioning he had in them.

Also Garcia clocked him in the temple. That makes you wobble big time.

Keep in mind Maidana was hurt early in the fight which seemed to have sapped his energy. He came on late in rd 10 but unfortunately for him he was too spent to get the KO. Maidana is also a very crude puncher. He doesn't place his shots together as well as someone like Garcia

One thing i noticed about Khan is his big elongated neck. Every fighter Ive seen with this trait has ****ed up punch resistance. I exclaimed this with bute at the weigh in of the froch fight and also with khan. Chuvalo even shares these sentiments. Think of a bob(head..brain) attached to a spring(neck). The bigger the spring is, the more it displaces the bob under the same impact i.e. sloshing of the brain..

Khan needs to build his neck muscles and traps as a foundation, and also fight shoulder up, chin tucked to reduce this displacement when hes hit. In addition he needs to really build his legs.
I already knew tabares would **** **** up for khan. I been saying that for ages

Spot on, every time he is hit, think of the distance his head travels, and how disorientating that would become constantly being snapped back like that

I don't think you can discount the lack of ariza either. Khan looms stronger & faster when he has ariza

Khan was backing up against Maidana and Cortez would keep jumping in and breaking the action. Against Garcia he was willing to exchange with him.
