Louis is one of the greatest fighters of all time. Dempsey not even close.

    Louis >>> Dempsey

Anyone realize how much taller louis looks in this video? A good 2" difference.

I don't believe Dempsey should be lumped together with Louis :good Louis proved way more in his career then dempsey did, and is the much better h2h fighter in my opinion.

The reality is that he was lumped together with Louis until about 1975.

As in "who do you think would win, Jack Dempsey or Joe Louis?"

Every generation has its ultimate fantasy fight, and for 40 years that was it!

Well, there they are - in 1951 - both quite happy to be lumped together.

No interest in how Joe Louis might have done against Harry Wills, as you can see!

We wouldn't have to worry about Dempsey ever taking on Joe Louis, because Dempsey refused to take on elite african american fighters anyways.

oh absolutely, and it had nothing to do with the politics at the time, and nevermind the fact that the top black contenders (except wills) were old or retired. Nevermind the fact that Wills himself did not blame Dempsey.

Seriously, this is a great video. They are both great fighters, Louis is greater IMO but every thread doesn't have to be a dempsey bashing thread.:lol:

The real shocker here is that Dempsey finally entered the ring with a Black Man.

How many years of therapy did it take to reach that major milestone?
