If a jelly jawed Morrison could outbox him, Mike could too with supreme headmovement.

You can bet the reason he never fought George had nothing to do with Mike himself.

Styles man. Tyson was in trouble against Foreman.
Morrison fights much different then Tyson. Tommy ran all night anyway and did not come forward. He ran, turned his back and used his hand speed. Mike never fought like that. It is no coincidence that Tommy's best fight was against Old Foreman. And you're logic is messed up.
"if Morrison beat Foreman,Mike could beat Foreman." Does that make sense?

I could say "if Danny Williams beat Tyson,Foreman could beat Tyson."
No. Boxing does not work like that.

George called out Tyson after every fight! I love Mike but I think even Old Foreman beats him maybe even easier than a young Foreman does. Old Foreman was so relaxed and calm and knew more about the game.

Old Foreman stops Mike inside of 6.

Tommy was literally running for his life, and never got hit cleanly somehow. Tommy was also 6'2 and fought different than tyson.

No inside fighter could beat foreman IMO

Morrison had underrated boxing skills, not that it was hard to look like a boxer against old foreman but still he fought beautiful that night. Maybe that was the best performance of his career? or K.Oing ruddock

    Spot on!
And I remember thinking it at the time.George was horrendous for Mike at that point.I think Mike would get very frustrated with George outmuscling and outfouling him.
I read that Tyson was afraid of Foreman and King was angry, but I also saw that Mike was prepared to take the fight after some persuasion but King knew he was nowhere near up for it because of comparisons with Foreman-Frazier and was only saying it was out of pride and slight humiliation, hence he never tried to make the fight again.
I don't believe Tyson had any say in the decision to fight Foreman or any other fight at that time.King had final say on everything.
And I do believe Tyson feared George like no other.

I dont subscribe to the Triangle Theory.

    However....

    Watch Foreman v Stewart

    then watch Tyson v Stewart.

George would bring heart and guts and big power. However, he gets torn up badly by Tyson.

**** me.I'm a big Tyson fan,but I love to think about this match up.I think Mike would have had to try and fight the way Cotto did for five rounds in the first Margarito fight.
Just can't see Mike flourishing on the back foot. It's crazy to imagine someone stalking Mike and cutting him off.I can't think of any time Mike got any power in his blows while moving backward.George wouldn't try to finish him on the spot and would just move forward like a tank so bobbing and weaving isn't an option.
It's an absolute stylistic holocaust for Mike.George's main income wouldn't be the grill if he'd got a shot at Mike.

Most big tall HW's suck at inside fighting. Their arms get tangled up and they can't generate any power. Foreman and bowe were big guys that were masters at inside fighting, they both destroy tyson.

    what about joe hipp?

morrison had to fight through a broken jaw and hand because he could not afford another loss after being ko'd by mercer six months earlier. at the time, the hw division was stacked.

funny to see some of the posters here think that they know boxing after watching the absolute worst era (other than smw)ever compared to the 80's, 90's and 2000's.

    just garbage right now.

pbf, bundgrage and canelo the jmw champs.

    lmfao.

By the time Foreman was really hitting the mark, the head-movement Tyson days were done, and he was depending on power, chin, and persona. Really the first Frank Bruno fight is the best demarcation.

Not saying that Tyson was afraid, and I am saying that Foreman would have beat Tyson 10 times out of ten.

But the Morrison fight was perhaps the low point of Foreman's career, lower even than the Jimmy Young fight.- he just was not himself in there that night.

Conversely, if it were Foreman in there against an apathetic Tyson instead of Douglas, I believe what big George would heve done to him would have shattered his confidence forever, and he never again would have been a big time fighter.
