Gomez at 122. Morales at any higher weight. Too big and good. Just as good as Gomez at his best.

In a nutshell that's probably the correct outcome & truth.

Never know though with the ATGs. I think Morales had the harder right hand than Sanchez and that was what ****ed WG up bad. Morales had great feints.

It's worth noting that as great as Gomez was a boxer, Barrera at 126 when he beat Hamed and after was superb in remodelling himself as a boxer, as good as WG.

Morales outboxed that superb version of Barrera in the rematch, so take it for what it's worth.

Sanchez and his competition (Azumah Nelson and all) are all viewed through rosy spectacles because of Sanchez' death. Gomez is for sure his best win ... Sanchez can't punch like Erik, and Gomez can't take punishment. Not that height matters that much, but even at 122 Erik Morales would have a 3 inch height advantage over Gomez and dropping that right hand on him would be deadly.

Do you (thread in general) honestly think Erik could be hurt by Bazooka at 122? Was he ever hurt, shaken, or bothered at 122? He is an ATG+++ chin before that second fight with Pac. Erik's just better.

The terrible truth is that Salvador Sanchez was a tireless and smooth boxer who outside of the Gomez fight did not hit hard and needed like 14 rounds of accumulation to get his opponents out of there. That fight was a fluke.

Gomes takes a knee just like the rest of them.

Gomez was on a different level. It'd be a competitive fight for a bit, but the gap in class would show.

people who rely on their power often get stymied when they can't hurt the other guy. Just saying. Gomez was complete ... for a power puncher. Erik's chin is bomb proof. Gomez gets frustrated when he can't hurt people and he is three inches shorter. I don't see any difference in class when those skills couldn't move up one weight class while Erik's shot deteriorated unhealthy too heavy self can hang with highly rated or undefeated jr welters.

Zarate is a good point, though, since he was pretty tall. However there were some real issues with weight leading up to that fight, Zarate had to try multiple times. I still favor Morales.

Yall seen Gomez vs Zarate? I think it'd go something like that with Erik lasting til the later rounds....Gomez is just a another level of talent, although you can't count out Morales due to the fact he's warrior and Gomez can be KO'd. I Just don't see Morales being able to pressure Gomez succesfully enough

Gomez could box and had power in both hands, at 122 and 15 rounds there's no question in my mind that Gomez would had found a way to win, higher weight I'll favor Morales, and sanchez could crack whoever is saying he didn't have a good punch doesn't know what power is, beside Gomez was moving up in weight and back then you have the weight in the same night of the fight, Sanchez KO three HOF and had some good wins against Castillo, Laporte, Perez etc..

He was KOd after leaving 122, and this hypothetical fight is at 122.

Gomez maxed out at 122. Morales would have been the stronger guy. El Terrible would be too much for Gomez.

Gomez would be favourite over any 122 lber but if anyone can then a peak Morales could.... both men would be taken to the limit regardless of who won, thats the only sure thing in this fight.
