dmt, yes Sq is irrational ...of all the posters I've observed on ESB, his hatred of Jack Dempsey is clinical...When I read his posts, my B/P goes way up...Maybe ignoring his paranoid rants is the right thing to do...:good

How much do you think the 19 years old Dempsey weighed when they fought in 1915?

Over a year after this fight ,Dempsey fought for the Pacific Coast Light Heavyweight title.

I like your posts Suzie but, with your Dempsey fixation , you are beginning to sound like Mendoza on Jack Johnson.
How about giving it a rest ,instead of hijacking the threads?

Yeah a teenaged Dempsey used to walk into the mining town saloons and offer to fight anyone for lunch, and pass the hat round for a couple of bucks , he must have been a real wimp.

You sit there on your arse ,passing judgment on events that occurred nearly a century ago, like Zeus on Mount Olympus .

Even an old Dempsey would have ripped your rectum .

    SMUG. SMUG .SMUG.

Interesting that Louis seems to have been prety conistent in saying that Al Delaney was the hardest puncher he ever faced. Dempsey names Firpo as the hardest puncher he faced, which is no shock.

I thought it was nice that they were so gracious towards each other , manners seem to have declined over the eras.

You can afford to be gracious if you are Joe Louis or Jack Dempsey.

I have no idea whether Emanuel Campbell had more fights or not.
    Obviously he wasn't a contender.

I accept that he existed, and I accept that he was black. And it's old news. It's on boxrec for ****'s sakes.

To some people Dempsey, at one point or another, was as tall as Valuev. Facts have little to do with their ideas about the man.

Some fighters are better than others, yes.

If Dempsey didn't want any part of Harry Wills it was perhaps because Harry Wills was too good ..... but it wasn't because John Lester Johnson was black.

I can't help it I was born into a more enlightened era, received an advanced education and that I wasn't an itinerant rube getting my ass beat for a couple kernels of corn.

At least Dempsey picked himself up by his bootstraps and joined the honorable profession of pimping.
