    I'm seeing a ridiculous amount of hate for James Toney on the internet lately mainly from newbies and fat reporters.
    just to inform the new fans and remind the old fans, this guy is a future hall of famer. how many guys do you know that have become fighter of the year twice 12 years apart.

    thats like ricky hatton who won the fighter of the year in 2005, wins it again in 2017 four weight divisions above. we know that most likely wont happen.

    I could go on but watch these fights if you want. if this guy was on the scene today, we would be all over him, the younger toney who is challenging for his first title is better than all the guys today except mayweather, maybe.

    And no, the Holyfield win was against a shot version. The prime one would lit him up and hang him up in Vegas.

    Toney is a master of the inside game. True old school. Just too bad that he talks too much trash, ate himself out of shape, and joined a charade at MMA.

    i think styles make fights, a prime holyfields work rate would have been an issue for toney or maybe not.
    if dwight muhammad qawi can give holyfield his hardest fight why wouldn't toney give him a competitve fight atleast?!

    another thing, he fought anybody and everybody! he fought often. a complete fighter!

    Anyway James Toney is a definite legend with ATG ring IQ and a good resume to boot. He may be pulling a Jones nowadays but anyone who doesn't admire prime Toney doesn't admire the embodiment of the sweet science.

    I tend to view hate for Toney the way I view "Wlad is better than Ali" material.Initial glance is as far as it goes.
    My only gripe with him is that his lack of discipline when it came to diet robbed us of better years than what we saw.Could never take him seriously as a heavy.
