Why are least expected countries good in Olympic boxing, but not in the Pros?

If China embraced boxing they would be a ****in force to be reckon with. They clearly have great athletes as evidenced by their success at the olympics. And when I watch their olympic boxers they're not bad, they seem to have the basics down and stuff.

As far as the topic. I think boxing just is not promoted something in those countries.

Those countries have been " good " in boxing only since the Beiging Olympics , a mere 8 years ago , before that they were nothing , wich tells a lot about all the corruption and favoritism towards Asian countries going on in AIBA since the chinaman Woo took over . They're nothing special without corrupt judging . Peace .

you're an idiot....first of all America isn't my country.....

2nd: America is absolutely dominating the sport of boxing, way more current champs than any other country, way more p4p fighters than any other country.......historically they have 80% of the top 50 fighters of all time. America dominates the sport so badly that people don't even compare other countries to america, they have to combine every other other country in the world together to challenge America at boxing and America still wins. It's America vs the world and still America comes out on top. Ams haven't meant **** for a long ass time. You watch, the Americans from these olympics wil have more pro success then teams from any other country, you know it's true!

Except for Japan, who has a great tradition in pro boxing, those smaller countries do not have a significant pro boxing scene if they have one at all.

Take the case of the Klitschkos and Kostya Tszyu. They had to immigrate to countries that had a profitable pro boxing scene. Klits went to Germany while Tszyu went to Australia.

Hell, even Sergio Martinez, an Argentinian who has pro boxing in his own country, felt the need to move to Spain to fight Europeans to market himself even more.

Case study: Bakhyt Sarsekbayev from Kazakhstan. 2008 Olympic Gold medalist in the welterweight division.

He fought Chris Pearson, a 21 year old American in the "pro-style" WSB. Pearson was a top domestic amateur but did not make the US olympic team.

Based on their respective amateur achievements and level of experience, this fight shouldn't have been close. But it was -- and Sarsekbayev got hit with a big left hand in the third and suffered a nasty cut.

He was never a great amateur, he had an out of character run of form at the Beijing Olympics. So no, never going to be a great pro because he wasn't a great amateur.

So his Olympic Gold was a complete fluke? He had a "run of form" and then had a permanent run of "out of form". Whatever you say.

Earlier you were claiming olympic Gold is diagnostic of pro form (Andre Ward).

Now you're saying Olympic Gold is attainable by sheer fluke.
