Well done Luke Campbell, boxed really well and stuck to a good game plan. No idea why Nevin was as aggressive as he was in the 1st round, too eager and would of been better served forcing Campbell to come to him.

Gutted, but both men have been fantastic all tournament, Luke really coming to his best towards the business end. If an Irish fighter had to lose to a GB one I'm glad it was Campbell, he seems a nice chap and is a quality fighter.

I'd go along with this. I was delighted Nevin praised Cambpell in the post fight interview and the way the Irish fans gave Campbell the round of applause. Maybe one or posters on here could learn a thing or 2 about dignity in defeat :yep. Anyway- Have to say - both nations exceeded my Expecations in the medals haul. But not Katie. Katie Mania has arrived and the promoters are already sniffing! Including Mr Eddie Hearns. I don't want ger to go pro but if she had to Eddie would be my pick. The Brits must be delighted. But there was some dodgey officiating and as per usual the AIBA need to be centrally regulated going by the evidence we saw here. Never the less the arena was amazing and the atmosphere the best I can remember. Boxing must surely be the up there now in terms of the neutral fans who previously weren't interested in it. I'm sure there will be new fresh faces in these isles all over boxing gyms come the next week or 2.

I see that by the way you highligted those 2 sentences you are linking them. I erroneously forgot to put a paragraph between the 2. I'm not referring to "the Brits" and AIBA in the same context. It probably looks that way because one sentence proceeds the other.

    In other words,
The IOC should have some form of operational control.
I think if you widen the net the possibilities of corruption are somewhat reduced surely. Some new policies could be brought in by 3rd party governing policy.

Campbell oozed class last night, Nevin simply got his tactics wrong.

Here's what Nevin had to say post fight, class act.

Nevin was disappointed but magnanimous in defeat, saying: "You always want more but Luke is a brilliant boxer and the best man won on the day. I won't argue with the decision - it wasn't meant to be today.

"I would have given my right arm for a bronze medal before the Games so this is a dream come true for me. My mother has decided where my medal is going to go and it's going to go up in her cupboard.

"Where ever I go from here I think I'll have a good career, either pro or amateur. And whether pro or amateur I'll always be competing for my country. You haven't seen the last of John Joe Nevin. I would love to go pro but it's all about my future and what I will do after boxing as well."
