Vera jabs the body and pushes Mora to the ropes. Double jab to the face by Vera. Mora is ducking very low past his own waist and giving up his back, which Vera happily clubs. Right uppercut to the jaw by Vera, and Mora rolls back with it to show he's still got some of that negative slickness. Taunting by Mora. Vera ignores him and jabs him to the ropes. Clubbing combo by Vera. Hook up top by Vera as Mora tries to back him off with a few jabs. Right hand by Vera, and he laughs in Mora's face.

Round 3

Vera is bulling his way in, reaching to hit Mora on the head with his jab and chopping with rights to the spine as Mora continuously gives up his back. Vera doesn't mind being held, working either free hand to the body and muscling Mora back into range for his hard lefts and rights up top. Mora tries to counter but isn't getting off as Vera punches at him nonstop and gets him leaning against the ropes under bombardment. Mora ducks down and takes a few shots across the back before snapping up and landing a flush right hand and left hook to the face of Vera, who doesn't blink.

Round 4

Vera is all over Mora, throwing hooks around his shoulder blades and jabs into his throat. Mora keeps twisting his upper body and shrinking back trying to slip punches but isn't getting out of the way of Vera's jab. Mora grins as though to say he isn't bothered by the multitudes of shots Vera is getting through with, but the grin soon fades and is replaced by a telltale grimace. Mora's eyes are also a bit marked up. Counter hooks by Mora, but they don't serve any purpose as Vera walks through them like falling snow. Mora ducks down below the waist and Vera pounds down on him, and Mora actually spills over on the middle rope, suspended! Not ruled a knockdown, but a loss of balance. Vera keeps wailing on him.

Just picked up the phrase "no respeto" from Claudia Torres' male counterpart on the Telefutura commentary team.

That's exactly right. Bryan Vera has NO RESPECT for Sergio Mora's power and is intent on walking him down and beating the **** out of him.

 

Round 5

Vera is showing off his entire gum shield as he comes forward laughing and throwing bombs. Mora has plenty of openings to counter, but he's getting beaten to the punch and beaten to a pulp by a determined and sadistic Vera. Jabs to the body and rights hands to the head. Uppercuts on the inside by Vera. Mora has his left hand low and tries to shimmy backing up to slip punches, with limited success. A few counters shot up from the hip by Mora but Vera laughs even harder upon receiving them. Jab to the face by Vera snaps Mora's head back. Mora lands a flush right hand at the bell, following through with his whole body weight, and Vera doesn't blink.

50-45 Vera

 

Ronnie Shields isn't satisfied with his fighter's performance so far (even though Vera should be well ahead on any card), saying he isn't getting any leverage on his punches because his balance is poor.

Demanding coach.

 

Round 6


Vera comes forward jabbing high and pounding over the top with his right. Mora is trapped in a corner under fire. Vera keeps head hunting while his feet are moving, which Ronnie Shields explains is not what he wants or is asking for. Mora is able to flick out a counter left jab here and there between long spells of rolling his shoulder up and arching his back to duck and absorb as much as he can anywhere other than the face. Vera finally starts to oblige Ronnie Shields and work the body after he jabs Mora into the corner again. Big shoeshine to the body by Vera. Mora lands a jab and Vera keeps coming, jabbing him in the face. Flush right hand by Mora, and Vera grins.
