I hope John Joe stays amateur. I would be fearful of his punch resistance. If Billy Walsh leaves his coaching role, I could see John Joe go pro then.
Why? I think he holds a shot pretty well, the body shot that the Mexican dropped him with was an absolute beauty, he did very well to even get up from that, and he even came back and landed a few classy punches of his own immediately after, he showed real heart in that fight. The Campbell KD was more a balance issue, If he had a dodgy chin I'm sure we would have seen him wobbled during the tournament. I think he has the makings of a real good pro, he reminds me a bit of Frampton, with Eddie Hearns recent signings of several Irishman I can see him trying to sign John Joe, and I think the kid would be right to turn pro. :good
I think to be fair to ó Cuinneagáin what he means is that JJ trusts Billy Walsh. A new coach could damage things in Ireland. There is a lot of bad press in Ireland about the fact that Billy Walsh and Zaur Antia are on contracts and have no permament jobs which is unbelievable but true. There is a big mess in the politics between the IABA and the IOC which and the boxers are sometimes used as pawns. It's a complicated affair. In short - and correct me if I'm wrong ó Cuinneagáin but what your saying is JJ trusts Billy Walsh (as do all the boxers) but without that community spirit they may all decide to go pro unless they see the coaches they trust staying with the team too? right?
i thought they were interviewing lomchenko then, I was like **** he's got that same borat voice. then i realised.... lol
