    damn, didnt hear this..... dude has battled demons for a long time....he is very lucky to make 54, other than personal drug use, mike never got in trouble or harmed anyone from all that i have ever heard.... his fight with holyfield was voted fight of the decade by some publications even though the overwhelming popular vote was hagler vs hearns....but if you have never watched holyfield vs dokes from beginning to end, its a fight between top 3 heavyweights, you wont ever see go to war like that again.....

    Sadly, he went to prison for battering his wife.

    Apparentely he had liver cancer in his later years. A shame, because he was a nice kid in the 1970s. Good people get ruined by drugs.

    ok. i stand corrected. :good
    not something to be proud of, but a guy like him could have easily been in and out his entire life....
    i remember him being 18 years old and doing a few rounds with an out of shape muhammad ali... dokes was pretty amazing and his hand speed was off the charts....
