it was a poor win, but then it was a wbo win so that makes sense seeing as the title wasd worthless at the time.

Eubie was not a plesant fighter to face ever, but he wasnt going to win, especially against a prime, certainly fiarly good fighter like guy Cal who was DESPERATE to win any title, when Eubie only agreed to fight for a payday towards retirement. Eubie turned up just to take the punishment.

Saying Eubie was shot is extreme, to say he was interested in simply retiring like Veit was in Calzaghe-Veit 2.

Age does not determine when a fighter is finished in the ring.

    Look at Vargas

    Look at Bowe

Look at Eubank, did he have any big wins after Joe ?

If Hopkins was "over the hill" how did he go on from his loss to Calzaghe to beat the Ring, WBC and WBO Middleweight Champion Kelly Pavlik the very next fight and then win the Ring and WBC Light Heavyweight Title in 2011?

schooled a natural MW, at LHW.

Still, fantastic performance from Hops who controlled the fight pace perfectly, its clear he was out to prove something after gassing against high workrate Calzaghe.

    Pavlik, slightly overrated too.

But to argue that a 40something is not seriously faded is disingenious. No one should be that stupid on ESB.

I didn't say Hopkins was in his prime, I just wanted to know how anybody can call someone over the hill - a term I have always known to mean too old to be any good anymore - when Hopkins went on to beat world champions.

And frankly the final comment of you post was uncalled for. I asked a simple question and calling me "stupid" because of it was out of order. This is not a very friendly website for new Boxing fans is it?

You just boasted Roy's win over shot, bloated, Trinidad, fighting years past his best and way out of his best weight, (who managed to win the first 3 rounds)..

You need to have your head examined.

Calzaghe schooled, taunted, and embarrassed Jones. Had Calzaghe not taken his foot off the gas for the Championship Rounds he would have KOed Jones. He chose to taunt and embarrass Jones which was just as fine to me.

Jones is a Glass Jawed Fraud. He has no Plan B in a fight and no Chin and no Heart. None.

Does this mean it was a good win?

Or a meaningless win, since Jones was a complete fraud anyway?

Mind Reader, the thing that concerns me most about Jones even more than his Glass Jaw in head to head fights with other ATG's is his having ZERO Plan B in a fight when it isn't going his way.

He was never in a tough fight never had to dig deep never had to really do anything because of his (mostly) creme puff handpicked opposition.

Fighters like Hagler, Moore, Foster, Patterson, Charles, etc. would have ate his lunch and savagely KOed him.

Do you see where I am coming from on this opinion? It isn't just the Chin with Jones. :good

it is one of the most underated wins in boxing history. so many respected boxers around the globe tipped jones to win for a number of reasons

    - jones was back on a winning streak - 5 victories sandwiched inbetween the calzaghe fight against the kind of opponents that jones had been fighting for years during his 175 reign.

    - jones' body was fully adjusted back down to 175, that bogus excuse had now dissapeared.

    - calzaghe was making only his 2nd fight at 175

    - jones was fighting on home soil

    - everyone knew that roys glass jaw wouldn't be a factor in this fight due to the famously brittle nature of calzaghe's hands. everyone knew that this fight would be decided purely on a skill level.
