I would respect him more if he actually faced the best in the world in pro ranks. Medals against average fighters should not mean anything if you are as talented as he is

Interesting, if it is a one year contract. If AIBA can get the top amatures including some Cubans. He'll spend a year fighting 6 rounders against some very good compotion. He in theory could turn pro in 2014 fighting 8 & 10 rounders from the get go. He could be champion by 2015. That's not to bad of a plan. In theory.

    So?:think

I think has got to be one of the dumbest moves I have heard of in a very long time. I was hoping he would be fighting on the big stage against the BEST fighters in the world (not the best amateurs . . . who are amateurs for a reason).

He could be making great money and become a superstar and do a lot of great things for his community and country. I see this as a ***** move . . . does he lack confidence? Is he packing glass? I am just stunned by this whole thing.

Finally the Eastern Euros had a great boxer to be proud of and he does this . . . wow

Theres no such thing as a global boxing superstar.

Theres hasnt been one since Tyson and it most likely will never be another boxing global superstar.

You might be right, but now by superstar it's meant, someone with any mainstream recognition. Floyd and Pac are superstars on that count. Lomachenko would have no chance of that kind of super stardom. The sub 160 scene is dead in Germany, so he'd have to try his luck in the US, where he has even less ethnic following than a guy like Rigo who can't draw flies. I bet he'll make more money per year in APB than Rigo's made annually so far. And his avg level of comp will be higher, with much more frequent bouts.

I'm not saying he made the right choice, only that it wasn't that straightforward. If he was 147+, then yes, ******ed.

The Korean that Loma ''fought'' in the final had nearly nothing to offer (and Loma still decided to cruise through the last round (a mentality that doesn't bode too well in the pro's btw)).

Lomachenko's a moron! I had high hopes for this guy, he's got the goods to become a pro champ but he's not even gonna show enough balls to try it, instead staying am (uh sorry i mean "semi pro") and winning another olympic medal in 2016.....pathetic, who gives a ****? we already know you're the best am in the world, time to step up and prove you're one of the best fighters in the world in your weight class by turning pro and facing the opther best fighters int he world in your weight class not going backwards to fighting more ams who would last 2 rounds with the top pros. What a disapointment.....just another eastern euro am star who fades into oblivion and never becomes **** as a pro.
